Tara E. DeCristofaro, Register of the Probate and Family Court for Middlesex county, will  present an informative overview of the new Massachusetts Uniform Code, that took effect on March 31, 2012, which will have an impact on Seniors and their families now, and in the coming years. The new code offers new options to the public and provides for a faster, less complicated and less expensive procedure to probate a will, or if there is no will, to administer one’s estate.

Tara E. DeCristofaro was elected to the Office of Register of the Middlesex Probate Family Court, which serves the fifty-four (54) cities and towns with a population in excess of 1.5 million, in Middlesex County, in 2009, for a six year term.  Prior to her election as Register she served as a Deputy Assistant Register directing the innovation and training of computer technology to registry staff which modernized the administrative functions of the busiest court in New England. She is a former Middlesex County Assistant District Attorney, and a graduate of Salem State University with a Business Finance degree and she has a Juris Doctorate degree from the Cardoza Law School and she is a member of the Massachusetts Bar, and of the Middlesex Bar Association. She resides in Medford, Massachusetts with her husband, Eric Melo and their two year old son, Nathan.

As Register, she is accountable for the Administration of Probate Estates, Probate of Wills and Trust, Divorce and Paternity, and Changes of Names, Adoptions, Guardianships of the aged and infirm, children and the mentally ill, and Conservatorships, in Middlesex County, and she has successfully initiated several innovative, productive and cost efficient procedures at the Registry.

“I consider it my obligation, as Register, to bring the message of what we do, and how we can best serve the citizens of Middlesex County, said Register DeCristofaro. The Probate Court deals with people, and it effects everyone from birth to after death.”
