Chelsea Interact ClubOn 16 December 2017, a considerable amount of students from Interact Club and adults from Rotary Club of Chelsea went to prepare lunch at Rosie’s Place in Boston. Rosie’s Place is a shelter for poor and homeless women who need a safe and nurturing environment for them to live. During the volunteering, students were able to prepare food such as scrambled eggs, beans, ham, salad, etc, as well as serve the homeless women food. After the women finished eating, students were able to clean the tables, fix chairs, and wash the dishes.
Vice- President Florinda Martinez shared her experience in which she explained, “This was my second time going to Rosie’s Place, and I’m very happy that I was given the opportunity to go. It gives me a sense of pride and joy that I’m able to help others by simple just serving them breakfast. Additionally, I get to meet individuals from different backgrounds and history all working together to help better the lives around us.” Students have shared their gratitude that they were able go to Rosie’s Place again, and hope to go again in the future.  The students raised the monies through bake sales to donate towards the purchase of the food.
