DG Bob Wood Memorial Heroes’ Celebration

A Rotary Foundation/Paul Harris Fellow Event for our Veterans:  Honoring Those Who Have Served!

Date:  November 12, 2025
Place:  Andover Country Club
Guest Speaker:  Brigadier General Jack Hammond (ret.) of Home Base, a national non-profit dedicated to healing the invisible wounds of Veterans and their families.

Clubs are invited to nominate a military veteran (or active-duty serviceperson) as a local hero in your community and award them a Paul Harris Recognition.  This is a major opportunity to expand our reach as we publicize this throughout our District.

Please discuss the following with your club members:

1.  Select a Hero if you haven't already and your club wishes to participate.  The Hero(s) must be a veteran, no exceptions please.  It can be awarded posthumously.

2.  Decide on a minimum of $100 silent auction item.  Instructions on who to send this to are forthcoming.

3.  Decide if your club wishes to participate in the District Wide Grant for Home Base to support Veterans and their families.  I have already received a $1000.00 donation towards the grant!!!  Thank you, Rockport Rotary!  We need to raise $10,000 to support this grant with $10,000 coming from The Rotary Foundation District Designated Funds.  Please ask you club to consider a donation to the grant.

4.  Save the date on your calendar and consider cancelling your meeting that week.  Cost and registration to follow.  We can fit over 300 people at the Andover Country Club.  Let's pack the place to support our Veterans!!!!

Thanks all and more info will be coming on how to report your Hero and assigning Paul Harris points.  Appreciate everyone's excitement for this incredible event.  If you club needs points to assign, let us know.

FYI:  Rotary Director Chris Etienne will be in attendance!!!!  Great opportunity to meet her!

More specific details coming soon.
