Davis said that he is “pleased to report that our February food drive was successful and reached our goal of 1500 pounds of food delivered to The Open Door to help our neighbors in need. This represents a new record for our annual winter collection.”
He added that Rotary is “grateful to our friends and neighbors in Ipswich and Rowley who supported and contributed to this vital effort. The demand for food pantry assistance has never been greater.” He also thanked “our Rotary volunteers, especially John Witzig who helped me deliver and retrieve collection boxes at 13 drop-off locations in Ipswich and Rowley.”
This effort would not have been possible without the support of town facilities and local businesses which served as collection locations. The participating locations were Ipswich Town Hall, Rowley Town Hall, Ipswich Public Library, Rowley Public Library, Ipswich YMCA, North Shore 24 Fitness, Institution for Savings (2 offices in Ipswich), Brookline Bank, BankGloucester, 3 Sweet Peas Bakery, Choice Graphics, and Mark Warner Martial Arts.
Davis continued that “Rotary is delighted to have reached our goal and to make a meaningful contribution to food security in our communities. Working together, we can make lives a bit better.”
