We have had to start a new D7930 Facebook Page. Our original Page is currently out of commission. We ask all Rotarians and friends to Like and Follow our new Page. Please invite your FB friends to like and follow. Our original Page has over 1,200 followers. Our new page has just over 100 now. We ask for your help. We all need to take a part in increasing the impact and reach of Rotary's Public Image.
We ask all Rotarians on Facebook to help Expand Our Reach by inviting your contacts to Like and Follow our new Page.
We still do not know why Meta took our page down. This has been happening over the Rotary world. We caution all of you to be careful what you post on your club Facebook Pages. Issues which can cause problems include copyright issues and references to gambling. Don’t use images, music or other IP that you don’t own. If you borrow a picture from the internet, it may cause a problem. Fundraisers that Meta may interpret as gambling (casino nights, raffles, etc.) may cause you to get snared in the FB AI net.
I also want to note that our District also has a Facebook Group. What is the difference from our Page and our Group?
A Page is a place on Facebook businesses, brands, organizations and nonprofits can connect with their fans or customers. When someone likes or follows a Page on Facebook, they can start seeing updates from that Page in their Feed. Posts can only be made by the Admins. It is the outward, to the public facing presence of the organization.
A Group is a place to communicate about shared interests with certain people. You can create a group for anything — your family reunion, your after-work sports team, your book club — and customize the group's privacy settings depending on who you want to be able to join and see the group. Posts on the Group wall can be created by Members not just Admins. It is intended more for internal sharing/communication.
Facebook can be an effective, free tool to promote your club. Like, share, tag and repost!
