After contracting polio in 1952 at age 8, Philip Wilson was left with no use of his arms or left hand. Since then Philip has lived a vibrant and productive life, but without any functioning in his upper body limbs and left hand. He has an inspiring and remarkable story including joining Rotary in 1984, one year prior to Rotary announcing the formation of Polio Plus. Having recently moved into Brooksby Village, Philip and his wife, Jane, are new members of Danvers Rotary. Formerly, Phil had been District 7490 Chair for Polio Plus and has done extensive speaking at Rotary clubs and events. He reminds us of the devastation polio brought to America every summer prior to Jonas Salk developing the vaccine in 1955.
