You can take it to the bank that on the last Saturday of each month, a group of Lynn Rotarians will gather at Salvation Army Headquarters on Franklin Street to distribute food to over 400 Lynn family members. “This is a project we took on back in 2015 when the last food pantry in the city closed,” recalled Lynn President Bill Reilly. "We started distributing food in September, 2015, in the St. Mary’s Church parking lot and did that right through the winter months. It was tough work, not just unloading the huge truck from the Greater Boston Mobile Food Bank, but also carrying out there long rectangular tables from the St. Mary’s High School cafeteria. After a couple of years we moved to Catholic Charities on North Common Street and now we’re at Salvation Army. Some of our members arrive around 6am to help unload but most are here by seven.” Front row l to R: Mackie Bastarache, Diane Reilly, Lorry Willis, Paula Clancy and Claire Price. back row: Bill Reilly, Ray Bastarache, Paul Price, Dan Cahill (Swampscott Rotary) and Steve Upton.
