Several Lynn Rotarians, as well as Assistant Governor Peter Majane, supported Lynn’s Salvation Army Captain Kevin Johnson with its drive for school supplies for students returning to school in the fall. The annual campaign is known as Stuff the Bus! The drive was conducted August 6th thru the 8th. This is the third year that the Lynn Club assisted in this project.

The Rotarians distributed flyers to people entering Walmarts in Lynn and Saugus asking if they could buy much needed schools supplies and donate them to the Salvation Army. There were bins at the store exit where they could place the items. In one three hour shift of distributing flyers, 6 large storage bins were full of donated supplies. The Rotarians were there for 4 three hour shifts and similar results were seen in all shifts. It helped that Walmart had several aisle of supplies available, many at a discounted price. The donated supplies will be put in backpacks and distributed to school children later in August; it is an annual event the children look forward to.

If you were unable to donate supplies, you may contribute funds to the Salvation Army by mailing a check to 1 Franklin Street, Lynn Mass. 01901

The Rotarians assisting in the distribution were: Pater Majane, Rotary District 7930 Assistant Governor; Ray Bastarache, Lynn Rotary Club President; Alex Sanchez and Bill Reilly both members of the Lynn Club.
