For over a decade, the Rotary Club of Lynn has engaged the services of the Lynn Public Schools’ Fine Arts Department to entertain its members at the Club’s final meeting before Christmas. In past years, the LPS has sent its jazz band or concert singers but Thursday’s concert at the Ole Tyme Italian Cuisine was extra special as Dr. Sabrina Quintana, Assistant Director of Curriculum & Instruction for Music, sent four members of Lynn’s string ensemble. Lynn Rotarian and Past President Steve Upton, longtime public school administrator, coordinated the event.
“It’s become a wonderful tradition for our club,” said Upton. “Our members really look forward to the students helping us celebrate. To show our gratitude, the Club always makes a donation to the Fine Arts program.”

Many Rotarians were joined at the event by family members and friends.“It’s a special treat for a special time of year,” added Lynn President Brenda Peral, a Lynn English graduate. “We won’t be meeting again until after the new year so this was a nice way to wrap-up 2018. Club membership is on the rise, both for our satellite as well as our luncheon Clubs; a new leadership team has been identified to take over July 1st; and many of our members are truly engaged in community work.” Mrs. Peral used the examples of 20 Rotarians ringing the bells for Salvation Army last Saturday and close to 30 members will be distributing dictionaries to Lynn Public School third graders the second week in January as part of its annual Dictionary Project.
