Hello, my name is Becca Harris and I am a proud member of Arlington Rotary, District Registrar, and a member of the recovery community. I am grateful for the support of family, friends, and especially my rotary family. September is National Recovery Month and I think it is very important to raise awareness surrounding mental health, addiction education and recovery. Did you know?????
• 6.34% of youth and 15.35% of adults in the U.S. reported a substance use disorder in the past year.
• 11.2% of overdose deaths are aged 15 to -24 years old.
• The rate of substance use and related overdose deaths have increased exponentially during the pandemic
Ways your club can help!
• Schedule a naloxone training with your local first responders
• As part of your DEI initiatives consider making Rotary recovery friendly.
• Spread awareness about Substance Use Disorder, remember it is like any other illness; end the shame, stereotypes and stigma around this illness.

• Support local nonprofits! Arlington Rotary and other clubs have supported 2nd Act. 2nd Act is a collective of artists in recovery which uses theatre, film, social emotional learning and drama therapy to address the impact of substance use. Together we empower diverse and inclusive communities to promote understanding in the face of stigma with the vision that all stories are honored, recovery is celebrated, and everyone gets a second act.
