Following the lead of Paul Harris and his Chicago #1 club, the Peabody Rotary Club was the sponsor of a public comfort station (aka a porta-a-potty) for the annual Progeria Research Foundation 5K Road Race. The very first Rotary project in 1905 was a public comfort station in Chicago. (Click the "Read More" link below to see a picture of the 1905 project.)

The Progeria Research Foundation is one of the local charities that the Peabody club supports. The event was held on Saturday, September 8th, and several racers were grateful to have the facilities available. Many Peabody Rotarians participated and a few did very well in the event. Dan Vassallo and his wife Katrina were the men’s and women’s winners; Chief Tom Griffin came in 2nd place in his age group; and Peggy Pedro came in 2nd place in her age group of walkers.
