The Wakefield Rotary Club will be the sponsor for this week’s Thursday Movies on the Lake in partnership with Wakefield Community Access TV (WCAT) on Thursday, August 7. Prior to the showing of “The Wild Robot,” the club will host a Mega Musical Chairs game, open to all ages 8 and above.
Multiple rounds of the classic game will be held with prizes provided by Holiday Travel of Wakefield. Club President Kathy Boyle noted, “This is purely for fun. We love partnering with WCAT for the movie and thought this would be a fun thing to step it up a bit.”
The club wishes to thank the Department of Public Works for their assistance with organizing the game.
Registration for the musical chairs game is on-site, starting at 6:00 pm. The movie will begin shortly after at sundown and does not require any registration. All ages are welcome for the movie showing. The club recommends you bring your own chair for the movie showing. Playing in the game and movie viewing are both free.
In addition, the Wakefield Rotary Club will again be hosting a Red Sox ticket chance at the WCAT Movies by the Lake. Thanks to a generous donation from Wakefield Rotarian Frank Fiorentino and Mahoney, Fiorentino, and Co., PC, raffle participants can win a pair of tickets for the Red Sox versus Miami Marlins on Sunday, August 17, 2025, game at Fenway Park.
Club Treasurer Barbara Worley said, “These tickets are amazing, and this is an easy way to win some great Sox seats and support local causes through Rotary.” Previous chances drew in over $2,000 which was donated back to the community throughout the year.
Ticket chances cost twenty-five dollars and the prize includes two seats at Fenway, Box 49, Row H, Seats 1-2, behind the visitor and on-deck circle near home plate. The value of the pair of tickets is about $300. 2024 ticket winner, Amy Luckiewicz said, “The seat location was so close to the action. I’ve never been so close to the field before!”
Tickets are on sale during the Movies by the Lake on the Common. Visit the Rotary table to grab your chance to win. Tickets are also available at Holiday Travel Wakefield (402 Main Street) and from any Wakefield Rotarian. You can also Venmo the club @wakefieldrotaryclub. Indicate “Sox” in the memo and provide your contact information. The winning ticket will be pulled at 8:00pm on Thursday, August 7th at the Movies by the Lake event. You do not have to be present to win.
