The Wakefield Rotary Club visited Northeast Metro Tech (Voke) this week. The club re-located its meeting to the James Wallace Breakheart Inn at the school, a fully functioning training bakery, café and restaurant located within the Voke for the first out of four Rotary lunch meetings that will be hosted at the school in 2025.

Wakefield Rotary Club President Wendy Maguire noted, “We absolutely loved our visit. It’s important to us to get to know the resources that are available to our community and to give back. Re-locating our lunch meetings there a few times a year is long overdue, and we’re excited to build a strong relationship with the Voke.” Members of the club commented specifically on the three-course menu selection, student effort and quality of the food. One member said, “I’d bring my friends here every week if I could.”

During the meeting, Club President Maguire reminded the club about its upcoming plans to build a stronger relationship with the Voke. Specifically, the club made a recent donation to support an event at Northeast Metro Tech that focuses in on girls who wish to work in non-traditional trades. In addition, it will continue to sponsor a vocational tool scholarship to a Northeast Metro Tech graduating senior and hopes to send multiple students to Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA).

Wakefield Rotary will next visit the Voke in May for another lunch meeting. The club wishes to extend its thanks to Superintendent DiBarri, Culinary Instructor Craig Elam, staff and students for their hospitality and encourages community groups to consider a visit to the Breakheart Inn.
