Last week we had our annual Rotary lunch with the senior athletes of Woburn Memorial High School. Our guest speaker was Mike Parziale. Mike was a long-time wrestling coach and mentor of many Woburn wrestlers. He spoke of his wrestling career at Woburn High which was an arc that started with meager beginnings and self-doubt to becoming a very successful wrestler and one of the state's best. In 2005 Mike finished fifth at 157 lbs. at the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Championships at the United States Naval Academy.Overall, he concluded his junior season with a 34-8 record to raise his career mark to 81-26 as he ranks second in single season wins in school history and fourth in career victories.
Mike was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary Club of Woburn's Foundation Chair and past president Bill Sullivan. Pictured are Woburn Rotary President Danny Walbourne, Mike Parziale and Bill Sullivan.
