D7930 Receives RI Disaster Grant for Covid-19 Relief
The Rotary Foundation has approved D7930’s disaster response grant application for $25,000. $15,625 of the grant monies have been distributed to those who responded to a district-wide call for action for PPE last spring when COVID first hit us hard. The following agencies have received PPE for the amount of $3,125: Care Dimensions, Sunrise of Lynnfield Senior Living, SeniorCare Inc., Arlington Visiting Nurses and Community Care, and Beverly/Swampscott AFC Urgent Care.

In addition, $9,375 is slated for Police/Fire Departments and First Responders across the district. If your club is interested in supplying PPE to your local police/fire dept/first responders, please email PDG Joan Arsenault at joan@massteximaging.com by midnight of August 31, 2020 (this is a firm deadline). You will then receive information on how to proceed with this grant. Thank you. Congrats D7930!

The Amesbury Rotary Club invites you to attend their August 26 meeting with Dr. Todd "Bowtie" Jenkins and a presentation "Moving from Diversity to Inclusive Opportunities for All." The RI 2020 Presidential theme is “Rotary Opens Opportunities” and we are charged to grow rotary and ensure it is an invitation to endless opportunities! The best way to grow, is to inspire and motivate existing members and to look for potential members who are missing. This presentation is not your ordinary diversity talk, so be prepared to get inspired, learn and have fun!

Wine Fellowship - August 28

BBQ Wine Fellowship Tasting
Fri, Aug 28, 5pm
via Zoom

Email CorksNCapsWine@gmail.com for the zoom link

The summer may be almost over but the BBQ is not!  September lends itself to great grilling in the back yard or deck with family & friends (at a social distance) or just you and your partner.  So what wines can still capture the summer magic?

For the next tasting, IPDG & wine connoisor Suzanne will lead us through a tasting of two varietals: white: Vinho Verde (Portugal) & red: Cote du Rhone. The Vinho Verde should be served very chilled and would be great with Shrimp from the grill tossed with lemon and garlic, fresh tomatoes and fresh basil. Cote du Rhone is generally lighter than many reds and accompanies most any meat from the grill (beef, pork, lamb sausages); serve preferably at about 68F.

You will hear more about these wines during our August 28th tasting at 5 PM via ZOOM.  In addition, Conrad Heede President of RI RWAF will also be joining us.

To receive the zoom link email Joan Arsenault at CorksNCapsWine@gmail.com.

See you then!.
