D7930 Rotaplast Changes 75 Lives!
A Big Thank You to the Rotaplast Mission Team and the Clubs and Individuals who donated and raised $65,000 to allow the District to sponsor this mission and send 8 non-medical personnel over.  Another Successful Mission occurred. There were 75 patients and 85 surgeries performed.

One of the many stories of how the 2019 Cebu City Rotaplast Mission changed lives:

Reynald is a 14-year-old boy who came in to the hospital for a cleft lip repair. But before he came in, his mother had stopped at his school to notify them that Reynald would be absent for the duration of the repair. To her surprise, she learned that he hadn’t been showing up in school this year – other students were bullying him because of the way he looked with his cleft lip. As a result of the repair and care he receives from our Rotaplast mission, he’ll be able to go back to school. Saving Smiles, Changing Lives.

Help Andover Rotary help Steven
On the evening of May 1, 2019, Rotary of Andover Citizens Who Care recognized Steven Crowley as Student of the Year for his volunteer work in the community and with middle school kids at the Andover Youth Center – in front of about 250 Andoverites who boisterously supported him for his good work.

His brother and sister couldn’t be there that night– they were away at college – but his mom, Amy, was busy snapping photos and his dad, Thomas, was super busy just being proud dad.

Then the unthinkable happened.

Shortly after their arrival home, right after the family walked through the door, Thomas had a heart attack and sank to the floor. Steven saw this happen right in front of him yet mustered to call 911 while his mom tended to his dad’s needs. However, on this, Steven’s night of nights, Thomas, only 60 years old, didn’t make it.

First D7930 InteractCafe a success!
Interact taps into the best that can come from a partnership between Rotarians and young people. In 7930, we want to help your club embrace that potential. We are committed to a more robust Interact experience for everyone involved. This is why we designed the InteractCafe.

The first InteractCafe was held this past week at the Winchester High School. The idea was simple: take motivated teens and Rotarians, bring them together, allow them to mingle and exchange ideas, and send them home with everything they need to make their clubs even stronger. It was also important to keep it local and relatively brief (being on a school night). Topics included membership growth, fundraising, international projects and developing closer relationships with sponsor Rotary clubs. Attendees also had time to share with each other, to meet their counterparts in other clubs. At the end of the evening, the new District 7930 RYLA video was shown for the first time - and the kids LOVED it! This event is designed to be regional, and a second InteractCafe is being planned for Thursday, November 14, on the North Shore (likely at Ipswich High School). Stay tuned for details!
