ElderAct Club Grows Organic Vegetables for Low Income Seniors
The ElderAct Club of Marblehead/Swampscott has been busy the past two years planting, growing and harvesting organic vegetables. The Marblehead Community garden is a project of the Elderact of M/S sponsored by the Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor and the Town of Marblehead Parks and Recreation Department. Volunteers provide the materials and labor throughout the growing season. Harvesting and delivery of vegetables happens twice a week through out the season. The club has provided over 100 pounds of various vegetables to each elderly housing project in Marblehead in the past year.

Rotarians Support Meals on Wheels
A nationwide “March for Meals” campaign to raise awareness of hunger issues among seniors in our nation is held each March. In the past two weeks, North Shore Rotarians Ken Riehl (Gloucester), Lisa Shanko (Ipswich) and Bob Gillis (Rockport) have volunteered their time in order to deliver Meals on Wheels lunches to elders in their communities. SeniorCare, the Aging Services Access Point, for Cape Ann and other North Shore communities, wishes to thank these Rotarians for their commitment to Service Above Self.
