RYLA Success Stories
"As the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said thousands of years ago, “When the best leader's work is done, the people say, 'We did it ourselves’”. My time spent as not only a participant, but also as a facilitator within RYLA has equipped me with leadership tools that I can take with me wherever I go. One of the most incredible lessons that I learned as a leader is the importance of listening. I’ve seen that great leaders do not take over; rather, great leaders listen and allow team players to have a voice. The best leaders make people feel heard. Without the exposure to this lesson, and many other life-changing experiences within RYLA, I don’t think I would be as successful of a leader as I am today. RYLA has taught me how to be more fearless, more resilient, has connected me with incredible like-minded individuals, and has helped me to become the best version of myself."  --Marissa, RYLA participant & student facilitator

District 7930 RYLA 2019 will be the weekend of May 10-12.  For information about how your club can support high school students in your community, visit the District RYLA page or contact RYLA Chair Christina Harris.
District 7930 Technical High School Scholarship
Our District is once again offering ten $500.00 scholarships to graduating seniors that attend a Technical High School.  The scholarships will be awarded to seniors that plan to pursue a trade after graduation.  The funds can be used to obtain a certificate or license as well as to purchase tools for their trade (electrician, plumber, automotive mechanic, carpenter, beautician etc.)

This award is funded by our Annual Giving donations to The Rotary Foundation.

Clubs are encouraged to copy and share the application.  Applications are also being sent to the Guidance Departments of all the Massachusetts Vocational Technical High Schools in our District. The application has been sent to 16 high schools in our District.  This includes high schools that offer trade classes to their students.

The Scholarship Committee will meet in late April to select the winning candidates.  Please note that children and grandchildren of Rotarians are not eligible.

Woburn Donates Birthday Bags
Members of Rotary Club of Woburn recently completed a service project to help families celebrate children's' birthdays. Spearheaded by Jim Major, the club organized supplies and ingredients needed for a family birthday celebration. The bags were donated to Woburn's food pantry located at The Council of Social Concern on Merrimack Street. Most club members were on hand to organize and distribute the supplies to make each bag, including president Susan Hartmere and recent past president William Sullivan.
