According to the Rotarian Magazine, 2015 was a key year for the polio eradication movement. Check out some key achievements!
Nigeria was removed from the polio endemic list of countries on September 25th after no new cases of the wild virus were detected.
The Type 2 poliovirus is "gone for good" after an independent global health commission officially verified that the Type 2 strain had been eradicated worldwide.
2015 marked the almost 3-year milestone of no new cases of the Type 3 strain.
The Polio Oversight Board met to conclude that $1.5 billion in new funding is needed to wipe out polio in Afghanistan and Pakistan, "while continuing to shield millions of children in polio-free countries."

Every day, Rotarians make a difference in their communities and around the world through acts of kindness, contributions to many charities and especially to a commitment to The Rotary Foundation. Of these, our Foundation is capable of multiplying our efforts through exceptional investments which allow 50% of a district's contributions to be returned in three years to fund district grants. These grants are matched equally by clubs who apply for any one of a myriad of possible service projects. Each of these positively impact individuals, sometimes for a day and other times for their lifetime. Now that Rotary is so focused on sustainable projects, the good that we do lives on for years into the future.
If that were not enough, Global Grants can affect people around the world and even in our own backyards. As we develop the Homelessness and Hunger Initiative (HHI), among others, we introduce the possibility of District 7930 being able to attract not only matching funds from Rotary International, but from other clubs and districts around the world. Our hope is to complete the video that is intended to clearly display the true face of homelessness and hunger in our own backyards. Then we will begin the educational phase of this project. There are hundreds of Global Grants in progress at any one point in time. For more information visit ideas.rotary.org and search for projects that align with your passion. Choose to get involved as a volunteer, contributor, providing materials or being a partner. Or, just use the site for inspiration.
Rotary provides so many possibilities to Do Good in the World and to support your personal missions in making a difference to the causes you are passionate about.

District 7930 is requesting bids for the 2016 Rotary District 7930 Conference Ad Book. If you would be interested in submitting a quote please do so on the downloadable spreadsheet prior to January 31, 2016.
As we are in the planning stages, we cannot provide an exact specification, so we are requesting pricing on a variety of page counts and configurations. Please remember that the final content for the ad book may not be available until 3-5 days prior to the event and that delivery would be required by May 12th.
Write up the story in a common text editor such as Microsoft Word and make sure you answer the following questions:
Who - Who attended, who helped, who is invited
What - What is the event, is it a service project, fund raising project or fellowship event
When - What was the date or when will the event occur, include starting and ending time as appropriate
Where - Where was or is the event, provide a map if possible or at least a very specific address so a link can be created to a map complete with directions
How - How do you register, include a digital form in word or pdf or an online registration option
Why - Most importantly, why was or is the event being held, this is why someone would want to participate, be as engaging as possible
Send photos or images as separate files from the actual event if it has occurred, or from a prior year, complete with captions describing who is in the photo (optional) and the story behind the picture.

The response to the first Rotary Means Business meeting on November 30th has indicated a strong interest in continuing the development of this new fellowship. The skill builder presented by Andy Winig on Effective Networking Tips and Elevator Speeches was extremely well received. The survey results indicated a strong desire to build a program around mentoring.
The next meeting will be on January 19th at the McLane Middleton Conference Center at 300 TradeCenter in Woburn. We will start again at 6:00 pm with a short social with the presentation beginning at 6:15 pm. The opportunity to network will occur between 7 and 7:30 pm.
