Please post on your digital and paper calendars so you will not miss out on one of the most powerful days in each Rotary year. Between 200 and 300 Rotarians, Interactors, Rotaractors and friends will be plunging into the frigid Atlantic Ocean at Long Beach in Gloucester! It is an awe inspiring site to watch so many people willing to brave the cold water, air temperature and wind for a few minutes each year in the hope of saving children from around the world from polio and its devastating effects.
Will you plunge, contribute to a plunger or be a cheerleader? Every little bit of support Makes a Difference, and with the help of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foudation, the dollars are effectively tripled with their 2-1 match. Each year, our Rotary family donates approximately $100,000 per year which provides almost 500,000 immunizations to children in the world. Our goal this year is $125,000, but we need your involvement.
Registration will be open today for individuals to sign up to plunge and to join one of the 48 teams set up for the Rotary and Rotaract clubs in our district. We ask each plunger to raise a minimum of $100 and clubs to raise $1,000. We are hoping for 100% involvement from the clubs and for each club to appoint a Plunge Champion. The Champion will provide motivation for plungers to register and secure donations. Please use the fundraising opportunity to educate your family and friends about the great work that Rotary is doing, especially with the goal of eradicating polio from the world. Use this holiday season to ask your family, friends, coworkers and everyone else to be part of history as we walk the final mile in this effort.

The Wakefield Rotary Club was happy to use a portion of District Matching Grant funds to sponsor a full Thanksgiving dinner for members of the Wakefield Boys and Girls Club this year. Approximately 150 children and their families were served turkey, cranberries, stuffing and mashed potatoes. Wakefield Rotary President Mario Portillo commented, "We were so happy to sponsor this dinner. We know there are kids here, and everywhere, that may not have Thanksgiving dinner. We're very lucky to be able to provide that and are very grateful to the Boys and Girls Club staff for working so hard to cook the meal!"
This year’s Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor Holiday Pops Concert, on Saturday, December 9, at Abbot Hall, is even more special than usual. The concert, a Marblehead holiday event enjoyed annually by friends and families, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. This year’s event is being held in honor of Fraffie Welch, who was the originator of the concert, in partnership with Jodi Vigneron. But that’s not all! It is also the 20th anniversary of the Hillyer Festival Orchestra. Altogether this is a fabulous combination of the festive season, holiday music, and the celebration of a special Marblehead tradition.
Ipswich Rotary President Cushing Titcomb inducted two new members into the Ipswich Club at recent evening meetings of the Club. At the September evening meeting, Cori Trembowicz became the 65th member of Ipswich Rotary. Cori’s community service interests include The Open Door Food Pantry and the Ipswich Dinner Bell.
At the October evening meeting, Matt Bodwell became our 66th member. (Shown in the photo are Matt, President Cushing, Stacy Bodwell (Matt’s wife), and Paul Harris Society member and sponsor Jim Tedford.) Matt has been instrumental in assisting the Rotary sponsored Ipswich High School Interact Club during their annual “Jingle Bell Walk”, helping with arrangements for a costumed “Grinch” and the boat on which Santa arrives.

If the eBulletin being prepared is getting to be too long and the story submitted is not time-sensitive, we may choose to delay including it until the following week.
