End Polio Now Webinar:  Oct. 13
Join us for an interactive evening with PDG Mike McGovern, Chair International PolioPlus Committee at Rotary International & represents Rotary on the Polio Strategy Committee of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI).  The Zoom webinar is on October 13 from 7 to 8:15 pm.  Our need to remain committed to eradicating polio in the world could not be more at the forefront due to the recent state of emergency in New York following a reported polio case and the detection of polioviruses in multiple wastewater samples in New York and London.

We will hear about the vaccine-derived case in New York, the state of polio in the world, and the latest advances in polio vaccines. The webinar will also focus on how your club can use the district's fundraising platform to raise monies and ideas for fundraising for this most important issue.

Robert C Wood Memorial Heroes Celebration 2022

Registration is now open & program book ads / sponsorships can be purchased online

Thursday, November 10th will be our annual Rotary Foundation event, but this year we are renaming it the “ROBERT C. WOOD MEMORIAL HEROES CELEBRATION” in honor and memory of our friend, the late Past District Governor Bob Wood (2018-19). This event will be starting at 5:30 PM at the Danversport and we hope that many of you will be attending. The evening will include a social hour, silent auction, dinner, and Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) presentations.

Online registration is now open - please click here to purchase your tickets! This page also includes all the details about the dinner menu for the event as well as the program outline.

In addition, we invite all businesses in the district to support the event by taking out an ad in the program book or becoming a sponsor for the event. In addition we now offer the option to purchase a small Well Wisher listing (two lines, text only, approximately 20 words).  Program book ads, sponsorships, and well wisher listings can be purchased online here!

As a reminder, all Rotary Club are invited to nominate a hero from their community to present them with a PHF recognition at the event. Candidates could be doctors, nurses, teachers, crossing guards, emergency services personnel, veterans, or anyone else whom the Rotary Club believes to be a community hero. The online nomination form has been sent to Club Presidents and Foundation Chairs, and the nomination deadline is October 10th. Please send your heroes nominations ASAP!

We would also like to ask all Rotary Clubs to start thinking about silent auction items: we would ideally like to see items with a minimum value of $200, so that people will be eager to bid high and bid often! All monies raised in the silent auction will directly go to The Rotary Foundation! The Online Auction submission form as also been sent to Club Presidents and Foundation Chairs.

Lynn Cornhole Fundraiser
The Rotary Club of Lynn held a Cornhole Tournament fundraiser Sunday, October 2nd at the Old Tyme Family Cuisine.  The purpose of the event was to raise money for college scholarships for Lynn seniors.  There were 21 two-person teams in the tournament which included Lynn Rotarians, Acting Superintendent of Lynn Public Schools Debra Ruggiero, and Lynn Fire Chief Stephen Archer.

In addition to scholarships, Lynn Rotary is the longtime sponsor of the annual Special Games.  Rotarians also distribute dictionaries annually to all LPS third graders.  Its signature initiative is the Eighth Grade Recognition Program held in January, March and May.  In addition to those, the Club hosts the annual pre-Thanksgiving football luncheon for Lynn High School captains, coaches and others associated with the football program.
Manchester-Essex 20th Anniversary Dinner
Manchester-Essex Rotary's 20th Anniversary Dinner was a huge success.  Current members had the chance to meet past members and hear the accounts of how the club pulled through time and again raising funds for the local community and projects offshore.  There was quite a bit of comedic content from the speakers including past president Chris Costello, Master of Ceremonies Don MacQuarrie, past presidents Chet and Debbie Marcus, Sarah Willwerth-Dyer and last but certainly not least past president Paul Sullivan who regaled us with what the breakfast meetings and auction were like back in the day.

State Senator Bruce Tarr, former State Representative Brad Hill and club members Dot Sieradski, Michael Grey and Marcia Hubbard all received Paul Harris Awards.  Bruce and Brad gave heartfelt speeches about what the club has done for the community over their 20 years of involvement - even before the club took over the Red White and Blue Breakfast they were serving when it was hosted by the Lions!

Special thanks to Jennifer Doane, Don MacQuarrie, Christopher Shea, David Ray, Joanne Donnelly, Sarah Willwerth-Dyer, Judy Laspesa, Deborah Marcus and Stacey Scott who put the event together.  This was the best event ever to witness the community effort that has drawn together the Manchester-Essex Rotary Club for 20 years, bravo to all!
