District Governor Nominations

Nominations for District Governor for 2026-2027 are being accepted starting August 6, 2023. Deadline to submit nominations: Saturday, October 14, 2023.

This important individual leads and supports the clubs in the district by inspiring and motivating them to Do Good in the World! All clubs are encouraged to propose suitable candidates who meet the qualifications to serve. One of these requirements is that at the time of taking office, must have been a past president of a club, completed seven years of membership in one or more clubs, and to have attended governors-elect training seminar and International Assembly. If you feel that your club has such a leader among your members please consider nominating them to help fulfill Rotary's ongoing missions.

In addition to the nomination form, please include a Rotary-focused resume of the candidate, as well as the candidate's vision statement of what they would like to accomplish for our district in their year as district governor. Completed nomination forms and the additional documents should be sent to DG Lori Karas at lori.karas@outlook.com.

Filling Bags of Hope in Lynn

On Thursday July 27, 2023, the Rotary Club of Lynn gathered at the Old Tyme restaurant to fill Bags of Hope with personal care items. The collection of bags is for the Jasmine Grace Outreach program, the items are primarily for women.

Women who are living on the streets or in programs throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire are given Bags of Hope filled with basic items that we take for granted every day. In collaboration with programs serving women affected by trafficking, prostitution, addiction and homelessness, Bags of Hope is driven by the community. Many different groups of people are donating the items, filling the bags and handing them out! By doing this we let the women know there is a better way, they are treasured people, and that we are here to help.

Gloucester Celebrates 100th Year with Community Concert

To celebrate its Centennial Anniversary, the Gloucester Rotary will host a free Community Concert with musical guests Captain Jack & The Strangers (The Northshore's Premier Billy Joel Tribute Band) and opener Brandon Blatchford & the Wannabe Teenagerson on Friday, August 11, 2023, 6-10 pm at the Antonio F. Gentile Bandstand in Stage Fort Park.

The celebration will include food and beverages for purchase from 5 Star Phresh-Phood and Harbor Tap Trailer!

Save our Waters: State of the Rivers in District 7930. Supported by Ipswich-Rowley Rotary’s Global Grant, “Save the Ipswich River & Watersheds: The Lifeblood of Our Communities.” Join the webinar on August 24 from 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm.

Did you know that our water supplies on the North Shore are at risk due to overuse? Want your garden and your community to be prepared for the next drought? Join Ipswich-Rowley Rotary and the Ipswich River Watershed Association for an interactive webinar on the state of our rivers in northeastern MA and southeastern NH! We’ll discuss the current state of the Ipswich River, which provides water to over 350,000 individuals and businesses on the North Shore. Explore our toolkit for water conservation and advocacy, and learn more about how to get involved in saving our rivers! Members of the public are welcome and strongly encouraged to attend. Melrose Invites You to Come From Away

On 9/11, 38 planes, carrying 7,000 passengers were forced to land in Gander, Newfoundland, Canada when US airspace was shut down. Kevin Tuerff was one of those passengers. The kindness and compassion he experienced shaped his life’s purpose from that point forward. We are honored to have Kevin speak at our community viewing of Come From Away.

In 2002, Kevin began an annual tradition to honor the lives lost in the 9/11 attacks, and also pay tribute to the heroes of Newfoundland, Canada, who showed the world their kindness in 2001. To learn more, visit Kevin’s website Pay It Forward 9.11.

Gloucester Comedy Show

Lynnfield Hosts Superintendent and Scholarship Winners

On July 27 Lynnfield Rotary had the honor of welcoming as speakers Kristen Vogel, Lynnfield’s new Superintendent of Schools, as well as Rotary Scholarship winners from last year and the award winners for this year.

Ms. Vogel stressed her commitment to literacy, inclusion and competence for this coming year and throughout her tenure. She is eager to add her imprint to the excellent school system that she has inherited. During the Q&A period, she fielded questions about building suitability and adequacy for the future and the safety issues that would protect our children more effectively.

Co- President Christine Travers thanked Ms. Vogel for coming and then introduced the Scholarship winners. Evan Fair and Laura Lim were the Lynnfield High School scholarship winners for 2022. They returned to receive the balance of their $2000 award.

The weekly eBulletin depends on the content provided by clubs, so please submit your stories and we will publish them on the district website and in the next eBulletin. Stories that showcase your club or event should be submitted via the website portal at this link.

The deadline for submitting items for the weekly District 7930 eBulletin is Friday morning in order to be included in the following Monday's edition. If the eBulletin being prepared is getting to be too long and the story submitted is not time-sensitive, we may choose to delay including it until the following week.
