This year's District Assembly and Conference are back to back on the same day and everything happening is within the boundaries of District 7930. We're traveling from Danvers to Boston to Danvers to Salisbury, something for everyone. If you want to attend the entire weekend, the total cost will be $315.00 which includes Friday Lunch, Breakouts, Friday Dinner, Saturday Youth Programs, Saturday Dinner, Sunday Memorial Service and Brunch. Interested in staying at the Doubletree by Hilton in Danvers? Please reserve your rooms as soon as possible using the group rate code of ROt by April 10nth. Staying at the hotel will assure that you can enjoy all of the fellowship that this weekend will provide.

Buses from Danvers to Boston are free. There will be a shuttle for Hotel residents to Salisbury on Saturday.

BEVERLY TO HOLD WEEKLY MEETING AT CONFERENCE
District Governor Peter Simonsen has asked clubs to consider rescheduling their weekly meeting for the week of April 27th - May 1st and attend the combined lunch for the District Assembly and Conference on Friday, May 1st. The good news is that we have confirmation that the Rotary Club of Beverly has done exactly that. They anticipate that 55-65 of their 102 members will attend the luncheon at the Doubletree by Hilton in Danvers at noon on Friday, May 1st. Can you imagine the excitement if other clubs follow suit and we have 300-400 committed Rotarians enjoying great food and fellowship as we kick off our weekend of celebration of the 2014-2015 Rotary year. This location is only 25-30 minutes away from most of our members, much less for some, and we would love to have you attend the luncheon or the entire weekend! Register here!

POLAR PLUNGE - INTO THE FINAL STRETCH
As we enter the final stretch leading up to the Polar Plunge on April 11th, the Polar Plunge Committee would like to recognize some of our District's major achievements:
100% of clubs are contributing SOME amount to polio eradication
We have in $90, 315 in pledges, on our way to our goal of $125,000 this Rotary year
We have participation from our district's Rotaract, Interact, AND EarlyAct this year
59% of our clubs have already PASSED their polio giving compared to last year
240 individual people have registered to plunge
59 individuals have raised at leased $500 or more
Finally, we'd like to thank you four your patience as we continually battle this winter! Your encouragement and words of kindness have kept the committee enthusiastic and motivated and we look forward to meeting all of you at Long Beach in Gloucester on April 11th!

SLOW FADE
Alzheimer’s affects more than five million people in the United States. Now there is new hope to stop this withering disease.
Sunbeams through the bars of a crib. Rolling cookie dough with Grandmother. A flash of lightning, the smell of ozone. Waves lapping the shore. That library smell. Snow blowing sideways. Glasses of wine, peals of laughter. Onions caramelizing. Baseball games with Dad. Airplane wing over clouds. “I now pronounce you …” Ornaments on the tree. Hospital corridor. Planting flowers.
Who are you? How do you define yourself? Is it the places you’ve been, the things you’ve accomplished, the way you look? Is it your relationships, your creativity, your faith? And what if it were all taken away?
“Your sense of self requires memory,” says Rudolph E. Tanzi, a professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School and co-author of the 2012 book Super Brain, with Deepak Chopra. “And when you have Alzheimer’s disease, you lose your sense of self.”
The Rotary Club of Winchester is pleased to announce its 27th annual Charity Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015. The tournament will again be held at the Winchester Country Club, a Donald Ross designed, prestigious, private course. The tournament benefits the Winchester Rotary Charitable Foundation, Inc. a registered 501(c)(3) organization which supports numerous local charitable organizations as well as the national and international works of Rotary International.
Winchester Rotary members expect another sold out event again this year. Since this popular tournament tends to sell out quickly, anyone interested in playing in the tournament is encouraged to register early and to tell their friends, family, business and professional associates, neighbors, partners and others who want to participate in this exciting event. ARE YOU A PRINTER OR PROMOTIONAL PRODUCTS VENDOR?
District 7930 is interested in reaching out to all printer and promotional products vendors who are Rotarians. We would like to invite you to consider becoming a preferred and approved vendor for the district.
You are about to hear about a new Rotary initiative, "Rotary Means Business", which has been designed to help foster business connections between Rotarians. In the spirit of the program, the district would like to begin by using members throughout the district when purchasing printing services and promotional products. Expect to hear more about this new initiative from DG Peter Simonson and DGE David Manzi as they communicate with their presidents over the next few months.
There will be a full application process available in the next few weeks, but there are several items that will be part of the initial offering. One of them is the District Directory. The specs will be available by the end of the week, but it is essential that you understand that this is a project that requires gathering data, typesetting and design, printing and bindery. The current plan is to have a nominal fee of $100 to be submitted with the application along with several sample pieces of Rotary branded work. One of the critical requirements will be that every printer or promotional product vendor will need to follow the current Rotary Branding Guidelines completely. Once we have received your application, a committee will review your work and will advise if you will be approved. Until then, we will add your name to our internal list of vendors and will forward Requests for Quotes as needs arise. Good luck!
