Rotary Youth Exchange Students Baking Cookies

Last Sunday afternoon, Rotary Youth Exchange students from seven countries (from both Districts 7910 and 7930) gathered at the home of a host family to bake and decorate Christmas cookies. For some of them it was a reminder of traditions that are also present in their home countries, whereas for others it was an entirely new experience and part of their cultural exchange experience.

Several former Rotary Youth Exchange students - or Rotex - also participated in the event. We are very grateful to our host families for hosting these wonderful students - and in particular for organizing this event!

Belle Isle Rotarians adopt food pantry project

Food Insecurity continues to be a problem in our area. In Eastern Massachusetts, there are 114,660 food insecure children and 8.7% of all citizens being food insecure overall according to Feeding America.

The Belle Isle Rotary Club, serving East Boston, Revere, and Winthrop recently answered a call for volunteers by the Revere Food Pantry located at the Revere First Congregational Church. The Club enjoyed the Service so much, they voted on volunteering once a month (in lieu of that week’s club meeting) at the Revere Food Pantry.
