DEI Governor's Citation Reminder
District 7930 Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee has created a District Governor’s Citation for all Clubs and Members. Clubs, can earn the District 7930 Diversity Equity and Inclusion citation for achieving goals that actively work toward making your club more diverse, equitable and inclusive. The DEI citation suggests 25 initiatives that clubs can do to create a more diverse, equitable and inclusive environment.

In order to achieve the Governor’s Citation a club must complete and document 13 of the 25 initiatives. For instance a Club can readjust their dues structure to make membership more affordable or re-define what it means to be a “professional”. These and other initiatives will help make your Club grow, more diverse, equitable and inclusive.

Beverly’s Year Long Centennial Celebrations
Beverly Rotary is the largest club in District 7930 and is looking to celebrate its 100th anniversary this year on February 24th.. The members are planning meaningful events for each month for a full year to commemorate this auspicious event.

Each month we will highlight a specific decade in our 100-year history. It should be wonderful as we solidify our plans. We are looking at a scavenger hunt, lights in the sky and many more events, culminating with a birthday party.

This year we have been raising funds to help those affected by the pandemic and COVID-19.  We are helping with bills like rent, food, utilities, clothing and medicines.  This is only one way we are helping the greater Beverly Community.  Every day, our 100-plus

Peabody Marks 100th Anniversary with Trail Improvements
Peabody Marks 100th Anniversary with Trail Improvements
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, several opportunities to stage a groundbreaking ceremony for the Rotary Club of Peabody’s recreational trail improvements were shut down. But it didn’t stop the movement.

The year 2020 marked the Peabody Club’s 100th anniversary, and while the year of celebrations did not turn out the way it was originally planned, the Club was able to work with the City of Peabody and its Parks and Recreation department to invest in several improvements in the city’s network of recreational trails. Among the augmentations in the works committed to over the course of the year is a multi-use water fountain on the Crowley Spur. A water line has recently been installed by the city about 150 yards from the trail’s connection with the Danvers Rail Trail, and the club has committed to the fountain, benches, and beautification to welcome rail trail users to Peabody.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee Update
Happy New Year! What better way to start off the New Year by making a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion!

I hope this message finds you staying safe and well. As Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee (DEI), I want to remind you that the DEI Committee continues to meet on a regular basis not only to discuss our next event or training for our Club leaders and members but also to discuss how the Committee can continue to serve as a resource.

Our most recent training was a webinar – Moving from Diversity to Inclusive Opportunities for All delivered by Dr. Todd “Bowtie” Jenkins. The webinar was held on October 29th, and if you were unable to join us, a replay is on the District website. Based upon initial feedback from participants, the webinar was a success and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Jenkins for the great advice on how our clubs in the District can be more inclusive.
