DEI Think Tank Panel Discussion
On June 29th from 7-8:30 PM the District 7930 Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee will be hosting our final event for the 20-21 Rotary year, a panel discussion about how your Club and/or District can start or enhance DEI initiatives.  The panel will introduce themselves and answer some questions and then we will open up the discussion to all attendees.

The DEI Committee has secured four great panelists and DEI subject matter experts, who will share with you some great ideas and initiatives as you embark on the new 21-22 Rotary year.

Panelists include:
  • Lexi Kantor – District 7930 DEI Committee Member, Boston Rotaract Club member and Human Resources professional for Ovia Health.
  • Bill Paulson - Rotary Club of Needham member, Past President, and Chair of the Rotary District 7910 Social Equity Task Force.
  • Cecilia Akuffo – HR professional, podcaster and producer of “Workplace Fairness and Dignity” (https://workplacefairnessanddignity.buzzsprout.com/).
  • Earl Miller - Greater Newburgh Rotary Club member, past President, past Assistant Governor and  currently leads the Rotary District 7210, “Think Differently,” DEI Team.

In Person District Installation a Success
The District Installation celebration at Danversport Yacht Club was a fun and inspiring night for District 7930’s first large face-to-face gathering since the pandemic hit.  Congratulations to incoming DG Terry Curran, her team of District Leadership and all the incoming Club Presidents for a wonderful evening.

Cowboy hats off to DG Betsy and her team for persevering and achieving so much through a most unusual, Zoom-filled year.

It was an uplifting and promising kick off to the 2021-22 Rotary year.  This year’s theme is Serve to Change Lives

Reading Supporting Scouting
Reading Rotary recently presented Boy Scout Charlie Lloyd with a donation supporting his Eagle Scout Project.   Charlie is a Life Scout in Troop 702 in Reading working to complete the Eagle Scout rank.  Charlie's Eagle Scout Project is to repair and replace a trail boardwalk in Reading's Town Forest.  Charlie's project will add to the network of boardwalks throughout the Town Forest.  Charlie had to plan with and get the approval of the Town Forest Committee, the Trails Committee and Conservation in Town.

A Boy Scout Eagle Project must help a non-profit or community entity for the improvement of the community.  Troop 702 Boy Scouts have completed many Projects in the Town Forest.  This boardwalk will be of service to hikers, campers, mountain bikers, dog walkers, cross country skiers, runners and many other types of people who use the Town Forest.

Reading Rotary's donation is part of an initiative to forge a partnership with Boy and Girl Scouts as there is a natural commonality of purpose in these organizations.  Reading Rotary is happy to be able to help Charlie achieve his lifelong goal of obtaining the Eagle Scout Rank.

Charlie's Project is scheduled to be completed this summer.
