TIME TO ADVOCATE FOR THE POLIO VACCINE!

Chair of CDC's vaccine advisory committee recently questions polio shot recommendation in the US.

Mike McGovern is Chair of the Polio Oversight Board (POB) which oversees the operations of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) and is the Chair of the International PolioPlus Committee at Rotary International. In addition, we are honored to have PDG Eric Denu (D7850), Zone 32 End Polio Now Coordinator.

The mission of The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) North East America is to provide an educational opportunity for Rotarians as potential leaders. Each club President is asked annually to encourage Club members as potential Club leaders in the years ahead. Courses foster Rotary knowledge and leadership skills. It is hoped that these courses will also motivate the participants to be enthusiastic, creative and dedicated Rotarians. Our District's next RLI is being offered virtually on February 24 & 26, 2026. Register now! It is open to all Rotary members.

The faculty members are carefully selected by the Institute for their teaching abilities. They are drawn from all areas of the Rotary Districts. Many are present and past R.I. Directors, present and past District Governors, successful past Presidents and those with experience in special areas. If your Club cares about its future, it will want the best leadership possible. This is an outstanding opportunity for each Club to improve the Rotary knowledge of its key people, who will also be exposed to new ideas of leadership. The exchange of ideas with other experienced Rotarians alone makes the courses worthwhile.

Donate to The Rotary Foundation Annual Fund and we will match your Foundation Points.

Share Some Love (dollars) with The Rotary Foundation’s (TRF) Annual Fund Share and District 7930 will Share Some Love with you by donating Foundation Recognition points to your Foundation account in celebration of Valentine’s Day and Rotary’s 121st anniversary. For every $100 donated to TRF’s Annual Fund-SHARE from Valentine’s Day (February 14^th through February 23rd, Rotary’s 121st Anniversary), qualifies you to receive 100 Foundation points. The maximum match is 500 points.

This campaign will assist new members and those working to achieve the Paul Harris Fellow designation or move up to the next Paul Harris level to reach it faster and easier. Points are like cash.

The campaign will also help fund our District Grant and Global Grant projects which are supported by your donations to the Annual Fund-Share.

Points and cash that equal 1,000 allow donors to receive the Paul Harris Fellow designation. For example, if you are $500 away from a Paul Harris recognition, your $250 donation will be matched by 250 Foundation points to get you to that level.

RYLA 2026 will be May 15-17!

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is Rotary International’s leadership training program for young people. Rotary District 7930 has a long-running annual program for high school students.

Mark your calendars! We are excited to share RYLA 2026 will be taking place May 15th-17th at Camp Rotary in Boxford, MA. This year’s group of students will experience a full weekend of learning, discovering, and connecting with each other. With how busy the end of year can be, make sure to save the date for RYLA 2025 before everyone's schedules fill up!

Please share the date with your Interactors and other students now as the spring can be a very busy season for them. We would also love to come and speak to your Rotary or Interact Club. Please reach out to Lexi Kantor to make arrangements at lexi.kantor@gmail.com.

Member Orientations Added in February

Thank you to the 100 people who participated in the Zone New Member Orientation session in January. We appreciate the positive feedback on it! The fast-paced 45 minutes flew by.

Due to the popular demand, the Zone Membership team has scheduled TWO extra sessions in February to make it possible for more people to attend. Different days and different times – they might work better for some time zones too!

These New Member Orientation sessions are:

Wednesday, February 11th at 8:30 p.m. Eastern and

Sunday, February 15th at 9:30 p.m. Eastern

in addition to the one previously scheduled for April 23rd at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.

Wilmington Polar Plunge March 28

Wilmington Rotary and Rotary Interact will be holding their third annual Polar Plunge to support "End Polio Now" on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00AM at the Silver Lake Town Beach. All proceeds will be sent directly to Rotary International through the District to support the continuing efforts to eradicate the polio disease from the World.

The Wilmington Club will be setting up their own Go Fund Me Account, but other area Rotary and Interact Clubs are welcome to participate in their own Fundraisers along with us. Unheated changing facilities are available in the Beach House. Plungers are invited to a local restaurant for Pizza following the event. Wakefield Club Grows With Another New Member, Dee Casey

The Wakefield Rotary Club is pleased to announce its newest member, Denise “Dee” Casey, was installed into the club earlier this month by Wakefield Rotary Past President Amy Luckiewicz and her sponsor, Past President Barbara Woley.

Casey is the current Town Administrator for the Town of Wakefield, who had been sworn into office last October. With 26 years of municipal experience, including previously serving as Deputy Town Manager in North Andover, Casey is no stranger to serving her community. Among her priorities was getting to know Wakefield residents and non-profit organizations like Rotary. “I was drawn to service, and Rotary gives me a connection to the community I serve,” she noted.

Casey added that her service interests are diverse, and that she’s most interested in helping the club develop impactful clothing drives, scholarships, food insecurity projects, veteran programs, and youth projects to name a few.

Andover is Top Fundraiser for Salvation Army

Andover Rotary is pleased to share that it has once again earned the distinction of being the highest single-day fundraising non-profit organization for the Lawrence Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign.

On December 23, 2025, club members, along with family volunteers, took to Main Street in Andover to ring bells and collect donations in support of families facing hardship in the greater Lawrence community. The effort resulted in more than $3,700 raised in a single day—an outstanding achievement that returned the club to the top position after a one-year hiatus.

Last year, Free Christian Church set a strong example by leading the single-day totals. Their success served as healthy motivation, and this season both organizations contributed meaningfully to a shared goal. The Lawrence Salvation Army surpassed its $100,000 Red Kettle target, ultimately raising $105,000 to support essential community services throughout the holiday season and beyond.

Danver's Holiday Drive for Food Pantry

Danvers Rotary Club presented gift cards to local grocery stores for the Danvers People to People Food Pantry. The Pantry distributed the gift cards to families and individuals struggling during the holidays. Total number of Grocery Gift Cards 72, equaling $1800. A great project with great success, feeding our neighbors. Thank you to our Rotarians, Philip and Jane Wilson, for organizing the drive.

Burlington's Jeff Wisnia Passes

It is with deep sadness that we share the recent passing of our long‑time member, Jeff Wisnia. Jeff served our Burlington Rotary club and community with unwavering dedication for many years. He was our web master, a Paul Harris Fellow and supporter of all our events and projects. His commitment to “Service Above Self” was evident in every project he touched and every life he quietly improved. His wife Judith has been active in our club and a devoted caretaker ensuring he was still able to participate with Rotary while he was ill. We will all miss Jeff and so grateful our paths have crossed with his.
