 Fall is upon us. Football is back, beautiful warm days and cool nights, foliage season as well as my favorite fall pastime- apple picking with my kids! This year, I look forward to bringing Gemma, my 8-month old granddaughter.
Our club visits are going great! We learn so much from our members and clubs. It is an honor for me that you allow me to visit and make me feel so welcome. Thank you!

 BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND
The President’s asked and DG Dave responded. We’re bringing back the District Membership Forum as an event. This will allow Presidents, President-elects, membership chairs and others to focus on membership alone, with no distractions.
The event will feature two break-out sessions. Session # 1 is entitled “Young Professionals: How to attract, engage and retain them.” The panelists will be Christa Papavasiliou, Past President Boston Rotaract, Chris Baker, current President of the Evening Boston Downtown Club, and Joe Fiorello, Vice President of the Belle Isle Rotary Club. This panel is not only speaking on the subject, THEY LIVE IT!
Session # 2 is entitled “Membership Initiatives” , focusing on how to increase membership. Corporate Initiatives will be discussed by Lisa Healy of the Burlington Club, Satellite Club Initiatives will be discussed by Immediate Past President Brad Clark of the Ipswich Club, Service Club Initiatives will be discussed by Immediate Past President Anne Lewis of the Rockport Club, and Non-Profit Initiatives will be discussed by District Executive Secretary John Ferguson. These are the folks that not only took it upon themselves to work on these initiatives but have accomplished them in their own Clubs. Some might call them the experts!

Over 100 District Rotarians, friends and family cheered the Red Sox to a win last month at the Rotary Red Sox Day for Rotaplast. The evening began with social time at Pizzaria Unos where attendees picked up their tickets, chat, and enjoyed the buffet. Around 6:30 the group headed over to Fenway Park and were presented with great posters to show our Rotary spirit: one side identified us as Rotarians, the other side promoting Rotaplast. Several new generations groups also attended including Lawrence Rotaract, Beantown Rotaract, Medford Interact and more! The district would like to thank the following clubs for their attendance at the event: Amesbury, Andover, Belle Isle, Beverly, Boston #7, Boston Downtown, Burlington, Chelsea, Gloucester, Greater Salem, Ipswich, Lexington, Malden, Medford, North Reading, Parkway, Peabody, Rockport, Stoneham, Topsfield-Boxford-Middleton , Wakefield, Winchester, and Woburn.
District Governor David commented, "I would like to thank the committee for arranging a great event! Our beloved Red Sox beat the AL leading KC Royals 4-1. A pre-game all-you-can-eat buffet at Uno's in Kenmore Square was enjoyed by many. The District was recognized by the Red Sox in a pre-game, on-field celebration! I would also like to thank those who purchased tickets to benefit our upcoming Rotaplast Mission to Cebu, Philippines and to the many Rotarians, friends, family and potential members who attend!"

Dear Ingrid,
I hope this email finds you well! I wanted to write to let you know that I am settled in Barcelona and that all is well here. It was a bit of a rough start to find an apartment and settle visa issues but at last all seems to be going smoothly!
I have attached a few pictures from my involvement with Rotary and Rotaract in Barcelona over the past two months. My host club is fantastic. I have become close to my two host advisors, Beatriz and Eileen, as well as the current president, Marc Molinero. I have also become involved with Rotaract and I am working on building one of the less developed clubs.
The first picture is of my host club, Rotary Barcelona Condal. This was their summer picnic at Beatriz's home in the countryside. I was joined with two fellow Rotaract members. The second picture was taken downtown, outside of a convent. Our group prepared dinner for a few hundred homeless people. This particular Rotaract Club works with other organizations in the area and volunteers making dinner twice per month. It was a huge success and a great experience. The last photo is from a Rotary meetings. I am between Beatriz and Marc.

 Last Thursday Alex Falk, Rotary Club Youth Exchange Officer, introduced incoming youth exchange student Wienona Setiawan to the Marblehead Rotary Club’s membership during its weekly Thursday luncheon. Setiawan will be a student at Marblehead High School for the 2015-1016 academic year. Setiawan thanked the membership for sponsoring her visit and exchanged Rotary Club flags from her home Rotary Club in Bandung, Indonesia to Zach Newell, Marblehead Rotary Club President.
 Later in the luncheon Professor Pedro Mir, Rotarian and Faculty in the Department of Economics Universidad de Navarra, Spain and visiting professor at Boston College in marketing and communication, delivered a talk about using marketing techniques to enhancing the effectiveness of various Rotary Club programs. At the conclusion of Mir’s remarks, he delivered a Rotary Club flag from his home base club in Menorca, Spain to Zach Newell, Marblehead Rotary Club President.

 The Stoneham Rotary Club and our Hole-in-One Title Sponsor StonehamBank are pleased to announce Swing for Scholarships, a mini-golf fundraiser at Stoneham's own Hago Harrington's. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 26th from 6:00-10:00pm. This adult event will feature a mini-golf game, food, beer and wine, a hole-in-one contest, DJ Buono from Spinner Music, a 50/50 raffle, and lots of fun for everyone. We invite Rotarians from all clubs in the area to participate in this event, which will provide funds for our scholarship program for two Stoneham High School students. But, it's easy to participate in this fundraiser, because it promises to be a fun and exciting evening!

 Is your club planning a great community project this year? Consider applying for matching funds from D7930! So far. the District has approved funding to support projects that address literacy and technology in schools, ADA equipment in a local park, emergency preparedness kits for seniors and small economic development projects. These types of projects provide great benefit to our communities, enhance the visibility of Rotary on a local level and provide the opportunity for clubs to demonstrate Rotary "ideals in action" for the benefit of attracting valuable new club members. |

 Your District Public Image Committee is proud to announce its first Public Image Mini Grant! The purpose of the grant is to improve the visibility of your club and its public image. This is a matching grant of up to $250 and applications are due by November 1, 2015. Details of the grant and the easy 1-page application are attached.
