D7930 Installation Celebration 2020-2021

District Virtual Installation
Thursday, June 25, 2020
7:00pm
Register in advance for this event

Come one, come all and join with the celebration of the wonderful job our current club President's have accomplished this year and welcome our new Presidents for the new Rotary year, 2020-21. This will be a unique and very different installation for District 7930 but we need to band together and celebrate!

RI Annual Fund
Dear Rotarians,
As you know, the Annual Fund of the Rotary Foundation is where our voluntary $100 per year donation under the Every Rotarian Every Year program goes, but let's keep in mind the wonderful SHARE model of the Rotary Foundation: 50% of all the funds donated to the Annual Fund come back to our district three years later in the form of District Designated Funds (DDFs), which we can then deploy for both global grants and district-managed grants to help our Rotary Clubs do wonderful projects - both in their communities and around the world. For example, this year the following are just some of the projects we supported with DDFs: Service Dog, Backpacks for Children in Need, Covid Food Relief, as well as global projects such as toilets in India, etc.

As this Rotary year comes to an unusual end in less than a month, I wanted to ask you for your help. Think about the many Rotary District 7930 in-person events you have missed this spring, and how much money you have saved on drinks, dinners, and gas mileage...  we would really appreciate it, if you could donate some of those monies to the Annual Fund of the Rotary Foundation right now: https://my.rotary.org/en/donate and make sure that Annual Fund is checked. Thank you so much!!
Take Out Polio - Donate Your Lunch Money
Take Out Polio Lunch Event
Wednesday, June 10, 2020
12:00nooon

Let's multitask in our efforts to fight viruses! In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we still have a promise to keep to the world's children - ending the preventable scourge of polio. Please join Polio Plus Chair Michael McGovern and Rotary Foundation Trustee Julia Phelps for a Livestream on June 10th. And join us in donating at least $10 to The Rotary Foundation's PolioPlus fund during the week of June 8-17 at: https://www.endpolio.org/donate.

Those of us lucky to be working from home should consider chipping in a little of the lunch money we've been saving. Ditto the meeting meals we haven't purchased holding Rotary meetings on Zoom. And remember, every dollar we give becomes three with the Gates Foundation match!

D7930 Rotarians Step Up the Plate-- 18,259 times!
In February, D7930 Rotarians were given the challenge to perform 10,000 Acts of Peace before the end of the fiscal year-- June 30, 2020.  The amazing Rotarians in our district blew that goal out of the water so quickly that the goal was reset to 20,000 Acts of Peace.  As of June 3, we are at 18,259-- only 1,741 away from our doubled goal!

Let's hit this goal before the district installation event on June 25!
Wine Appreciation Fellowship
D7930 & D7790 launch our Rotary Wine Appreciation Chapter (RWAF)!

Twenty-three wine lovers crossing three states and two districts, met May 31 for a wonderful wine tasting of two wine varietals:  Pinot Grigio and Zinfandel.  DG Suzanne from D7790 led us in tasting and tips on how to taste wines, the reason for corks versus twist caps, and what glasses are recommended for sipping white versus red wines.  An overall fun, fun, fun time!

Our next Local Chapter of RWAF is slated for Sunday June 28th at 5 pm.  Our very own DGND Alexander Falk will be leading the tasting of Grüner Veltliner - a grape variety that is grown primarily in Austria, Hungary, and the Czech Republic and Sangiovese - an Italian grape varietal that is best known for its role in Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, as well as many "Super Tuscans."  We will also be sharing food pairings with these two wines.  Hope you can join us.  Open to Rotarians, Spouses and Friends.  More info to follow via Club Runner.  If interested in joining us, you can also contact DG Joan at joan@massteximaging.com.

The Beverly Rotary Club has served its community for almost a century. Today, our help is needed more than ever. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a health and economic crisis that has not been seen in our lifetimes, and our neighbors are hurting.

That’s why we created the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, and seeded it with more than
$11,000 in pledges from Beverly Rotarians.

We know that money will run out quickly. That is why we are launching the Care From Your Chair fundraiser later this month. You don’t have to leave your house to help your neighbors -- you can simply log on to the internet and make a bid on any one of dozens of fun items, including: Artwork, Jewelry, Fine furniture, Gift cards, Golf outings, and Sports memorabilia.
