Weekly Polar Plunge Donation Update
Donations to this year’s Polar Plunge are being directly made through the donate button in MyRotary or through your club’s Foundation Chair. Once a club has donated a minimum of $1500 it qualifies them to receive the End Polio Now Certificate from Rotary International.  Last year only four clubs in our district reached that benchmark.  I’m pleased to say that the top four clubs below have already surpassed that level.  Let’s try to get our District back to more participation throughout the clubs.  The list below includes all donations made to PolioPlus from July 1, 2021 as of February 5, 2022. Year to date we have raised $27,716.01 of our $100,000 goal. There are 21 clubs in the district who have not started making their donations to Polio. Please register with the Gloucester Club to let them know the number of participants.  Clubs can register their participation by clicking here.

RYLA 2022 Update
While we wish it was safe to hold an in-person RYLA for high school students in 2022, we don’t believe we are there yet!  Because of that, D7930 will hold an Advanced RYLA for a small group of students who have already participated in RYLA.

The purpose of this weekend will be to continue to develop alumni who wish to continue their journey of leadership development and to support the RYLA program going forward.  While RYLA students currently lead families and participate in some of the planning, the event is primarily led by a group of Rotarians.  The longer-term goal is to have the weekend be more alumni/student led.

We are hopeful that the weekend will be held at Camp Glen Brook in Marlborough, NH, tentatively on Saturday-Sunday, May 14-15.  We are returning to Camp Glen Brook to be good stewards of our resources as we have a deposit there from 2020, when we had to cancel due to the pandemic.

Greater Salem NH Fuel Assistance Program
The Greater Salem, NH Rotary Club recently distributed more than $16,000 to area gas and oil companies to support over 60 families in need in its service area with their heating costs.  This is the second year the club has offered this Fuel Assistance Program.  Special thanks to our partners: B & H Oil, McLean Oil, Palmer Gas & Oil, and Murphy & Sons.

Deb Whitten, Credit and Collections Manager of Palmer Gas & Oil said,  “Families continue to struggle during this pandemic and this donation will help tremendously.  This is the second year that we have received this extraordinary gift from the Rotary Club, and we could not be more thankful.”  Adds John Lilly of the Greater Salem Rotary Club, “This has become one of our major service projects and we are thrilled to work with the Ermer family and Palmer Gas & Oil long with B & H Oil, McLean Oil, and Murphy & Sons.”

At various points during the evening, betters will be able to use their winnings to bid on merchandise and services that have been donated for the event.
