Locally, there is so much that we need to address. The biggest issue that is threatening our society today is addiction. The opioid crisis has affected almost all of us in some way and it is time to take action. This year's World Peace and Understanding Dinner on February 28th will be focused on this issue.

Our keynote speaker will be District Attorney Marian Ryan and she will share her view of this overwhelming threat, what is being done in the public and private spheres and what we, as Rotarians, can do to Make a Difference.

Prior to dinner there will be a Showcase with organizations that are dedicated to reducing and hopefully eliminating addiction and you will have an opportunity to volunteer your vocational talents to help them achieve success.

The time is now for all of us to step up and Make a Difference! How will you help bring about peace?

Chelsea Coat Drive
The Rotary Club of Chelsea and employees at the Homewood Suites, Residence Inn and TownePlace Suites hotels collected new and gently worn coats, jackets, sweaters and gloves to be distributed to local homeless children and families. The Rotary Club along with City leadership, local agencies and other volunteers participated in the “National Point in Time Count of People Experiencing Homelessness” on February 1. They went out in the pre-dawn hours to talk to and count homeless community members and bring them clothing, sandwiches, fruit and water. The Chelsea Rotary Club are “People of Action” and have served the community for over 90 years.

Rotary Leadership Institute is a leadership development program that combines facilitated learning, collaboration and ideas exchange to improve Rotary Clubs and strengthen lives.  Primary topics include leadership, team building, planning, market-ing, communication and organization.  The program is enriched through the sharing of experiences and ideas with Rotarians from our District and beyond.

Sessions are highly interactive, with a minimum of lecturing and lots of opportunity to share and experience ideas.  Each session is led by a Rotary leader who has been trained in facilitation techniques that maximize the learning experience.  Most work-shops are limited to 10-15 participants who participate in interactive discussion, role playing and problem solving activities.
