In Memoriam PDG 2008-09 Thomas R. Elliott
We are saddened to inform you that Past District Governor 2008-09 Thomas R. Elliott, formerly of the Danvers Rotary Club, has passed away this week. There is not going to be any service in the immediate future.

The family is going to work with the town of Danvers to have a memorial bench put in at the Pavilion that was the Rotary Club’s Centennial gift to the town. The intention at this time is to have a ceremony when that happens, a celebration of his life and a dedication of the memorial bench.

Our condolences go out to Carol Elliott, and their family.

Rotarians who want to, can make a donation to the Danvers People to People Food Pantry. This was a cause that Tom and Carol strongly believed in.

Do You Want to Host a Grad Student?
The Parkway Club is looking for an individual or individuals to house a graduate student who will be attending Simmons College in September. The incoming student is our last year's scholar, Fransisco's sister. She has received funding for tuition but not for housing. Please contact us as soon as possible if you can host her for a month, a couple of months, or the full year.

Beverly's Gazebo Makeover
The Beverly Rotary Club presented the City of Beverly and Mayor Cahill with a check for $50,000 to go towards repairing and maintaining the Gazebo on the common.  It was originally built by the Club in 1997.  The Club over two years and two Presidents, Marshall Handly and Diane Howard, raised this money to repair and provide upkeep for this beauty.  It sits in the common across from the Beverly Public Library and right next to Montserrat College of Art.  It is a wonderful structure that the community uses, but it is in need of repair. The fix-up has started and will continue so that the structure is safe for use.  Thanks to the members of our Club and the community who helped to raise this money.  Looking forward to a spruced-up Gazebo soon!
Rotary in 1921 Webster's Dictionary
It took only 16 years for Rotary to appear in the dictionary.  On the inside front cover of the 1921 Old Farmer's Almanac was an ad from the G. & C. Merriam Co for their new edition of 'Webster’s New International Dictionary.'  The ad opens by asking ‘have you and yours mastered these new words.’  One of the new words was ‘Rotarian.’
Share Your Club's Stories
Has your club recently hosted an event or project or are you planning something in the near future that you would like to share with your fellow District 7930 Rotarians?

The weekly eBulletin depends on the content provided by clubs, so please submit your stories and we will publish them on the district website and in the next eBulletin. Stories that showcase your club or event should be submitted via the website portal at this link.

The deadline for submitting items for the weekly District 7930 eBulletin is Friday morning in order to be included in the following Monday's edition.  If the eBulletin being prepared is getting to be too long and the story submitted is not time-sensitive, we may choose to delay including it until the following week.
