Join us on Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Danversport Yacht Club as we install our 2015-16 Club Presidents, Governor, Officers and Assistant Governors! We encourage you to reserve a table for your club, invite your friends and family for this fun evening starting at at 5:30pm with fun, fellowship, cash bar and some surprises. The buffet dinner and program begin at 7:00pm. Yacht Club casual attire encouraged.

2015 MAJOR DONOR CELEBRATION
Tuesday, May 18th was a special day! Over 50 Rotarians and friends gathered for the Annual Major Donor Reception and Dinner at the Salem Country Club. Not only was our own Julia Phelps, RI Board of Director, present but we also had Bryn Styles, Rotary Foundation Trustee 2015-2017 but many Past District Governors and District Leadership.
There was a special presentation honoring Keith and Christina Harris for their support of The Rotary Foundation. Trustee Bryn Styles and Julia Phelps presented them with their certificate, pins and crystal that serve to remind them of the gratitude of all who are served by their generosity.
In addition there were four members who have become Paul Harris Society members during the past year. They were Dan Weir of the Topsfield-Boxford-Middleton club. Joining Dan were our three members who will be serving as District Governors for the next three years. First of all, our DGE David Manzi from the Boston Club, Sheryl Meehan from the Haverhill Club and finally David Gardner from the Stoneham Club. That may be a first in our district and perhaps is one of the first times all three future District Governors were awarded this recognition at the same time.
Dinner was absolutely amazing in terms of the food and the fellowship that ensued throughout the evening. Bob Wood planned an incredible night and served as Emcee and Ingrid Brown and Diane Shikrallah assisted in the presentations for the Paul Harris Society recognition.
The stellar keynote was provided by Bryn and his comments were focused on membership, grants and Polio eradication. He us that when new members are asked why they joined Rotary, the number one reason is to do community service and a close second is for networking and fellowship. Later in their Rotary life, when the same questions is asked the reasons, although not changed, are much closer in percentages. Which means that fellowship becomes increasingly more important in retaining and engaging members and service opportunities continue to be critical to the health of a club. Through grants from The Rotary Foundation, especially with the new grants model derived from Future Vision, clubs are able to fund projects that are more sustainable, especially when they meet the needs of the community.

There is now a way to expand our reach in terms of communications. ClubRunner just released a new function which is in beta testing in District 7930. This is a remarkably powerful system that will allow the creation and management of contacts that are not Rotarians. This could be used for spouses/partners, club speakers, community members, RYLA participants, Interact members, ElderAct members, Rotarians outside of our district and almost any group of individuals who should know what Rotary is doing in the world.
The first function that has been deployed is the ability for visitors to our website or from a link in any other electronic communication, to subscribe to our eBulletin. They can enter their name and preferred email and will be able to add additional data in the future. Obviously, they will be able to opt out at any time.
This will allow for very targeted communications to groups and individuals. For example, all those who participated in the Polar Plunge, either as a plunger or a donor/sponsor, could receive emails or eBulletins that are focused on the Polar Plunge or Polio eradication or general district news. It is a very powerful new tool that needs to be utilized with caution if we hope to expand our sphere of influence in service to others.
