Countdown to Celebration of our Heroes!!
Thursday, November 11 will be our annual Rotary Foundation event “A Celebration of Our Heroes” starting at 5:30 PM at the Danversport. The evening will include a social hour, silent auction, dinner, and Paul Harris Fellowship (PHF) presentations.

Registration is now open!

Registration is required for this in-person event. We will be adhering to all current Covid-19 regulations to make sure this is a safe event for all Rotarians. Any person not vaccinated will be required to wear a mask, and you may choose to wear a mask even if you are vaccinated, if you are concerned about gatherings in indoor spaces. As you know, the Danversport facility has a very large ballroom, so we are confident that we can have people spaced out sufficiently to ensure a safe dining experience.

Your club still has the opportunity to donate an item for our Silent  Auction.  Contact Lori Karas to submit items.
District Grant Deadline Extended to Jan. 1
Is your club planning a great community project this year? Consider applying for matching funds from D7930!  In the current funding round, the District has approved funding for six projects to support projects that address literacy and education both locally and internationally, and support local food pantries.  These projects provide great benefit to our communities, enhance the visibility of Rotary on a local level and provide the opportunity for clubs to demonstrate Rotary "ideals in action" for the benefit of attracting valuable new club members.

Projects are required to fall into at least one of the 7 Areas of Focus, must be a new project for your club, involve broad participation by members, and will be complete by May 15, 2022.  If you are considering a project that meets these criteria, you may want to consider this matching grant opportunity. The application can be found here.

Pumpkin Painting in the Park
Beautiful, crisp, sunny weather was the setting for the PUMPKIN PAINTING IN THE PARK in Beverly Common.  The event was hosted by the Beverly Rotary Club in partnership with Beverly Main Streets.  100 children registered to paint their pumpkins at the Gazebo.  All of the pumpkins were donated thanks to the State Sheriff’s Department, Smolak Farms and Dr, Bill Beckman.  Tables were set up with paint and decorations.  After the children finished painting, their pumpkins were photographed for a montage of pumpkins.

Beverly Rotary continues to celebrate its Centennial Celebration with special events happening each month! Happy Birthday all year to the Beverly Rotary Club and its 112 members, serving the community!
Superintendent Tutwiler Joins Lynn Rotary
Dr. Patrick Tutwiler is starting his fourth year as the Superintendent of the Lynn Public School District.  Lynn is one of the five largest school districts in Massachusetts with over 2200 teachers and staff, 25 buildings to maintain and nearly 17,000 students to educate.  To say he has a lot on his plate would be a massive understatement.  However, when he was recently asked by three Lynn Rotarians and former LPS educators, Steve Upton, Dick Ruth and Ray Bastarache, to consider a Rotary Corporate Membership for his school district, he responded with a smile, “Absolutely! Why wouldn’t we team up with Rotary?”

Tutwiler has seen firsthand the many benefits this partnership between Lynn Rotary and the school district has delivered to Lynn students.  These include:  multiple college scholarships to high school seniors; eighth graders, who have overcome challenges, are recognized three times a year with a special lunch, a citation, a certificate of deposit at a local credit union, and a gift card to Barnes & Noble.  In the 18 Lynn elementary schools, over 1300 dictionaries are distributed annually to all third graders through Rotary International’s Dictionary Project, as well as the Club’s 50-year sponsorship of the “Special Games” for the many Lynn elementary students who are challenged by physical or learning disabilities.

Keeping Water Clean Day
Rotarians from Ipswich, Rowley and Wakefield, together with 12 high school students from St. Johns Prep, Danvers, joined Rachel Schneider, Ipswich River Watershed Association, Sat. Oct 23, for an outstanding hands-on training for Keeping Water Clean Day, a Greenscapes program.

Our inter-generational volunteer teams learned about the intricacies of the water cycle through a terrarium-like model, explored the cleaning of drinking water in a wastewater treatment plant, followed the polluting of water within our communities using a model of the local landscapes, and defined our watersheds within the different towns. We are ready to train more volunteers, and put our skills to action in our communities.  Contact Ann Witzig, aswitzig@gmail.com.
Wakefield Donates Dictionaries
The Wakefield Rotary Club recently completed its annual donation of dictionaries to every third grader in Wakefield. 253 copies were hand-delivered to all Wakefield public schools as well as Odyssey and St. Joseph’s School.

The club would like to thank the following Rotarians for their diligence in delivering the books: Suzanne Bowering, Jim Fitzgerald, Jill McWilliam, John Tramontozzi, Tom Stapleton, Barbara Worley and Catherine Dhingra.
