Past District Governor, Joan Arsenault has received one of Rotary International’s highest recognitions, the Service Above Self Award. This distinction is reserved for those who exemplify the very heart of Rotary: a selfless commitment to helping others, not for recognition, but because it is the right thing to do.

The Service Above Self Award is an internationally competitive award, granted by Rotary International Directors to up to 150 Rotarians per year out of more than 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide. This recognition is reserved for those who embody the very essence of Rotary—individuals whose dedication, generosity, and compassion make a lasting difference in the lives of others.

Joan has consistently gone beyond expectations, someone who leads with compassion, gives generously of their time and talents, and inspires others through her passion for The Rotary Foundation.

The Greater Salem NH Rotary Club awarded several scholarships to students pursuing higher education,
recognizing their outstanding academic achievements and commitment to community service.

The scholarships reflect the club ongoing dedication to supporting local youth and encouraging future leaders who demonstrate both excellence and spirit of service.

Rotary Club of Stoneham installed its Officers for the 2026-27 Rotary Year at a recent Lunch meeting at Stoneham TV Studios with District Governor Elect Terry Curran.

Ipswich-Rowley Rotary members gathered last week at the Rowley Country Club to welcome their new leadership team for 2026-27 and celebrate some community heroes.

Susanne Pedersen was installed as the club’s 123rd President by Past District Governor Joan Arsenault. Our new Board of Directors who will support her also were installed. The incoming officers include Katie Filtranti and Joe Healy as co-President’s Elect, Ted Garside as Treasurer, Mary Foote-Hill as Secretary, and Clint Dalton as Vice President Rotary Foundation. Our other Directors beginning July 1 will be Chris Davis, Diane Herth, Deb Mahoney, Christina Manikas, Martha Mauser, Lisa Shanko, and Immediate Past co-Presidents George Gray and Doug Shealy.

 

Another highlight of the evening was the announcement of our ‘Ipswich-Rowley Rotary Person of the Year’. We were thrilled to honor and thank Denny Drislane, recently retired head chef of the Ipswich Dinner Bell, who for 13 years served countless delicious and nutritious meals free to Ipswich residents who needed them. In addition to his culinary skills, Denny is remembered for his kindness and friendly demeaner. On hand to celebrate with Denny was his wife Elana, Ipswich Dinner Bell Executive Director Dorothy Calandra, and other members of Denny’s family.

Mark your calendar for fun, food, beverages and bowling at the Danvers Rotary Club Bocce Tournament Fundraiser on July 23, 2026, from 3 pm to dusk at Endicott Park in Danvers. This is a fun-fundraiser to supply LifeVac lifesaving equipment for Danvers Police Department.
