Please post on your digital and paper calendars so you will not miss out on one of the most powerful days in each Rotary year. Between 200 and 300 Rotarians, Interactors, Rotaractors and friends will be plunging into the frigid Atlantic Ocean at Long Beach in Gloucester! It is an awe inspiring site to watch so many people willing to brave the cold water, air temperature and wind for a few minutes each year in the hope of saving children from around the world from polio and its devastating effects.
Will you plunge, contribute to a plunger or be a cheerleader? Every little bit of support Makes a Difference, and with the help of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foudation, the dollars are effectively tripled with their 2-1 match. Each year, our Rotary family donates approximately $100,000 per year which provides almost 500,000 immunizations to children in the world. Our goal this year is $125,000, but we need your involvement.
Registration will be open today for individuals to sign up to plunge and to join one of the 48 teams set up for the Rotary and Rotaract clubs in our district. We ask each plunger to raise a minimum of $100 and clubs to raise $1,000. We are hoping for 100% involvement from the clubs and for each club to appoint a Plunge Champion. The Champion will provide motivation for plungers to register and secure donations. Please use the fundraising opportunity to educate your family and friends about the great work that Rotary is doing, especially with the goal of eradicating polio from the world. Use this holiday season to ask your family, friends, coworkers and everyone else to be part of history as we walk the final mile in this effort.

Andrew Maddox, President of the Rockport Rotary Club announced that the Rockport Rotary donated $14,100 toward hurricane relief. With three major storms hitting in less than a month, Rockport Rotarians answered the call in a major way — raising a combined total of $14,100 from club member contributions and matching funds from the club's coffers. Checks have gone out, including $4,700 each to:
• Disaster Aid USA (a project of the Rotary Club of Historic Prince George’s Co, Maryland) for their on-the-ground relief efforts in the Greater Houston area after Hurricane Harvey • Rotary Foundation Donor-Advised Fund for Hurricane Maria • Rotary Foundation Donor-Advised Fund for Hurricane Irma
Rockport Rotary trusts in the Rotary Foundation and Disaster Aid USA, and know that these funds will be put to the best use. The membership is happy to help out with the recovery after these destructive storms.
The District Public Image Committee has announced the availability of the Winter 2017-18 Club Public Image Mini-Grant. The purpose of this mini-grant is to improve the public image of the Rotary clubs of District 7930. Download the Mini-Grant overview and application for more information.
The Gloucester Rotary Club has published its annual 12-month Cape Ann photo calendar for 2018. Proceeds from this fundraiser will support the many community and international activities in which the club is involved.
The calendar features photos from local photographers of Cape Ann in all its glory throughout the year. In addition to the beautiful photography, calendar owners are entered into a weekly raffle drawing with the chance to win $50 each week or $250 in June or $500 in December.
Calendars are $25 each and are now available from any Gloucester Rotarian.
District Governor Dave Gardner recognized Lawrence Rotarians David Dreyfus and Diane Shikrallah as members of the Paul Harris Society with PHS Chevrons and District 7930 pins at the November 30th joint meeting of the Haverhill and Lawrence Rotary Clubs. Shown in the photo are Lawrence Rotary Club President Rachel Concepcion, David Dreyfus, DG Dave Gardner, Diane Shikrallah, District Governor Elect Bob Wood, and Haverhill Rotary Club President Melissa Cerasuolo. Dave showed slide shows of each club's activities and fundraisers and spoke to the need of clubs and Rotarians to bring new members into Rotary and to retain them through community service projects. The Paul Harris Society is a formal recognition program to honor Rotarians who contribute $1,000 or more annually to The Foundation, allowing Rotary to sustain our impact around the world.
Ipswich Rotary Club President Elect Martha Mauser presented Ipswich Dinner Bell Chef and Mason Denny Drislane with a Paul Harris Fellow at the Ipswich Rotary sponsored meal on November 27th at the Masonic Lodge in Ipswich. Shown in the photo are President Elect Martha, Dinner Bell Chef Denny, Denny’s wife Elana, and Past District Governor Dave Drislane (1964 – 1965), Denny’s brother, member of the Lynnfield Rotary Club, and frequent volunteer when the Ipswich Club is hosting the Dinner Bell. Ipswich Dinner Bell is a town-wide collaboration among nine Ipswich churches, individuals, and groups including the Masons, Ipswich Rotary, and Ipswich Lions. Knowing that hunger presents itself both physically and relationally, the Ipswich Dinner Bell is a non-profit cooperative organization that exists with a shared love of God and neighbor to serve hot, nutritious meals, free to all who come, and create a mealtime atmosphere of fellowship with one another. Meals are served every Monday evening at the Masonic Hall in Ipswich, and Denny is the chef who prepares the meal most weeks. The Ipswich Rotary Club sponsors a Dinner Bell meal once each quarter, and the Ipswich High School Interact Club sponsors a Dinner Bell meal once each year.
