Women in Rotary Spotlight: Marnee Walsh
When asked what she thinks about Rotary finally having a woman as the International President for 2022-23, Marnee Walsh says, "Jennifer Jones has already demonstrated her commitment, as early as the late 1980's, by being actively involved in the numerous Rotary roles and activities she has held on her path to the Presidency. She has already made a significant difference and will continue to do so.

"The Rotary International Glass Ceiling has been broken!

"Additionally, her presidential theme 'Imagine Rotary' opens the door for powerful, creative, dedicated, diverse leadership that is so representative of her open-ended commitments. Let's hope this is a start for more females in the Rotary leadership ranks and let us all support President Jones in every way we can."

Marnee Walsh is an Assistant Governor of Rotary District 7930, the District Community Services Committee Chair and a member of the Winchester MA Rotary Club.

MIT Grad Student Thanks Melrose and D7930
Luis Lopez de Rivera arrived from Monterrey, Mexico in Melrose in the frigid days of January to stay with hosts Mary Beth & Michael Margolis while he completed a DEDP Master’s program at MIT. The program included many international students with its main focus being to equip high-potential young professionals from all around the world with the right tools to produce rigorous evidence-based policy to fight global poverty and inequality.

Mary Beth is a past President of the Melrose Cub, Past Assistant Governor and District Governor Aide, and member of the Paul Harris Society. But her Rotary passion has been the Rotary Youth Exchange Program the District began almost 15 years ago, helping coordinate and manage the many high school students who have visited District 7930 and those outbounds who left us to travel abroad. Luis was kind enough to stay and mind Oliver the cat while Mary Beth & Michael went to Florida in February. He was introduced to the Melrose Club and found the members to be quite helpful in getting him settled, including acquiring warm clothing. He was able to attend a few District events with the current Global Scholar Fransisco with whom he became close friends and found they share the same home town, Monterrey! Our friendship will continue for many years to come thanks to Rotary!

Now Francisco's sister Regina is looking for a family to host her this coming year at Simmons College where she'll be doing a Masters in Nutrition. Mary Beth and Michael are considering hosting her in the 2nd semester but Regina would love to find a family in the District for her start of school in mid September. She is a frequent volunteer at home in Monterrey and wants to continue her service to others. Please consider this wonderful opportunity to expand your service to Rotary and the world by offering to host Regina. You may contact Mary Beth at margateer@verizon.net or Kelsea Whittemore at kelsea.whittemore@gmail.com for more details.

Helping our Food Pantries
Greater Salem NH Rotary
Serving towns of Salem, Pelham, Windham, Atkinson, & Hampstead

Standing outside the supermarket encouraging shoppers to purchase a little extra to contribute to our food drive was rewarding as we filled carriage after carriage. Thanks to our members and all those who contributed to make this food drive a success.

Our Third Annual Cornhole Tournament was a fun night for all who attended. Thanks to our tireless members who organized the tournament, our sponsors, and participants, we were able to raise 10,000 to distribute to food pantries within our five communities.
Peabody Offers Sangria at International Festival
Rotary Peabody is excited to operate a booth again this year at Peabody's annual International Festival on Sunday, Sept 11th.  We're continuing our successful partnership with the Chamber of Commerce to add a sangria experience to the Beer Garden.  All purchases directly benefit Rotary Peabody's scholarships and other service projects to improve our community.  Stop by our booth to have some refreshing sangria and say hi to fellow Rotarians!
