Chelsea's Dan Pranka Passes
It is with deep sadness that I report on the passing of Chelsea President Dan Pranka.

Mr. Daniel Pranka, age 84, of Saugus, formerly of Connecticut, died on Wednesday, December 8th at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Joanne (Falzone) Pranka with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.  Dan joined Rotary in December of 1993 and served in the Saugus Club, twice stepping up to be president.  He brought his sports raffles and travels to the club and rewarded members with trips all around including Bermuda.  In July of 2018 he transferred to the Chelsea club where he continued his generous ways.  He stepped up this past June to serve as Club President.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to either Smile at donate.smiletrain.org or St.  Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St., Peabody on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Marblehead Harbor Aids Local Senior Citizens
The Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor purchased materials for, and is distributing, buckets of sand and pet-friendly ice melt and scoops to local senior citizens. Prevention of falls and serious injuries is a serious issue for the senior population.  The Club partnered with the Marblehead Council on Aging, which is delivering buckets via its bus to those seniors who cannot pick them up at the Community Center.

Pictured are two of the several club volunteers, Linda Doliber and Cyndi Kilbarger.  Missing from the photo are volunteers Club President Patricia Sullivan, Judith Black, Donald Doliber and Tim Shotmeyer.
Mini-Grants for Interact:  Deadline Extended to Jan. 30
The District Governor would like to support the revitalization of our Interact Clubs this fall. To that end we have put together a $100 mini grant for clubs to use to assist their Interact Club in doing a service project.  Applications are now available online and close on January 30th.  Start talking to your Interact club now and plan a service project with them.  This can also include a service project to celebrate World Polio Day on October 24.  We are asking all Interact Clubs to plan a project to celebrate our progress towards Polio Eradication.

The Rotary Club of Chelsea is holding a Sports Raffle to benefit its Charitable Foundation. Join us for a day of holiday festivities and cheer! Greet Santa as he arrives at the Ipswich Town Wharf. Sing carols with Buddy the Elf as we await Santa’s arrival! Jingle bells will be available for purchase. Jingle your bells and follow our honored guest and Buddy the Elf on a festive “Jingle Bell Walk” to the Ipswich Town Hall at 45 Green Street. Once Santa arrives at Town Hall, he will receive children, 11 and under to take photos with. Parents are urged to bring a camera! Each child will receive a gift bag from Santa as well. Following their visit with Santa, the children can have their faces painted, play festive games, and create holiday crafts.
