Mini-Grants for Interact
The District Governor would like to support the revitalization of our Interact Clubs this fall. To that end we have put together a $100 mini grant for clubs to use to assist their Interact Club in doing a service project.  Applications are now available online and close on December 15.  Start talking to your Interact club now and plan a service project with them.  This can also include a service project to celebrate World Polio Day on October 24.  We are asking all Interact Clubs to plan a project to celebrate our progress towards Polio Eradication.
Medford Donates $10,000 to Local Food Pantries
Medford Rotary members are very generous when it comes to helping those with food insecurity. Every year for more than 40 years they give away 200+ food baskets to families in Medford with all the fixings for a Holiday dinner; including the turkey. Even last year, the committee decided the pandemic wasn't going to stope their efforts. So $50 gift cards were given to 226 local families in lieu of the actual basket.

The committee again wanted to do something to help those still in need. So it was decided to help others through 4 of the pantries housed in Medford. A check for $2500 was presented to: Community Cupboard located @ the Unitarian Universalist Church on High St., Saint Raphael Food Pantry on Boston Ave., W Medford, Mystic Community Market on Mystic Ave and Bread of Life, Malden, who serves the Medford, Malden & Everett Communities

Marblehead Harbor Receives District Managed Grant for Commercial Fridge
With the help of a District 7930 Managed Grant, the Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor purchased a commercial refrigerator for North Shore Families Together Food Pantry in Lynn.

Since March 2020, after specific food insecurity was brought to their attention, North Shore Families Together has been providing food to local families in need. The refrigerator will enable the organization to extend and expand the storage of perishable foods including fresh vegetables, fruits and dairy items.

The refrigerator is a double-glass-door, full-height commercial unit manufactured by True Appliance. Tom Kulevich and Rick Cohen of Tri-City Sales in Salem facilitated the purchase. Tri-City Sales, a third-generation, family-owned discount appliance store, has been a landmark in Salem since 1959 with a second location in Ipswich, serving customers throughout New England.

Salem Rotarian Bruce Whear, founding president and owner of Wire 4 Hire in Salem, was a consultant on the project.

The Marblehead Harbor Rotary Club has made food insecurity its primary focus during COVID-19 by helping to support the work of The Marblehead Food Pantry, Casa Mariposa in Lynn, and Salem State University in addition to securing the refrigerator for North Shore Families Together.

Club Foundation Chair Linda Doliber and Maestro Dirk Hillyer received the delivery of the refrigerator to North Shore Families Together. Proceeds from the club’s annual Holiday Pops conducted by Hillyer funded the club’s contribution to the purchase.
Calling All Artists and Artist Wannabes
Sign up now for The Rotary Club of Cambridge’s annual event Chalk on the Walk. Chalk on the Walk is the Cambridge version of an Italian street painting festival.

This year’s event will be held at Oktoberfest on October 10th in Harvard Square. We are looking for artists who will have the unique opportunity to draw their work right on the street in designated squares. Artists can choose to reproduce existing artworks or create their own. This event is lots of fun! Both individuals and families with no training in art are especially encouraged to participate. It can be a great team building exercise as well.

Please see the our webpage for more information.   There is no charge to take part in this event.
