Micro Finance Loans for your Interact Clubs
This a great opportunity to engage or re-engage your interact advisors and students.  The project is simple.  I am having one of the clubs put through a District Managed Grant for $6,000, which the District is funding. We are going to use Kiva as a microfinance platform, because we've already had great experience with it both with some Rotarians in our district using it, as well as the Marblehead Interact Club using it successfully for many years. We plan to create separate accounts on Kiva for each Interact Club that wants to participate. The accounts will be set up in the Rotary Club's name but you should provide the Interact Club with the login information and let your Interactors decide which projects to fund.  As the loans are repaid over time the funds go back into your account and are available to be re-loaned.

Rotary Clubs need to apply by December 30th to participate in this program. There is an online application here and clubs and interactors should watch the MicroFinance YouTube video on our District Website or by clicking here.

Once we know how many Rotary/Interact Clubs will be participating we will divide the grant money equally and set up the accounts.

Early Holiday Cheer in Marblehead
District Governor Terry Curran showered our club with recognition in many areas of contributions to Rotary Foundation 2020-2021. Among them: Marblehead Rotary is one of the handfuls of clubs to achieve the district's top three highest per capita on annual giving and for individual member participation. In addition, the Marblehead Rotary was recognized as one of the top contributors to the district’s campaign for the Rotary Foundation’s “End Polio Now” fund-raising campaign.

Accepting these citations is the past 2020-2021 president, Arthur Schwartz (right), whose leadership steered the club in staying the course during the challenging year of the pandemic, and Blair Lord (left) the 2021-2022 club president.
Lynnfield Interact Up and Serving
The Lynnfield Rotary Interact Club is up and running this year, rejuvenated by the energy of Lynnfield High School Interact Officers Sophia Calle, Abigail Travers, Isabela George, Harrison Grasso and their peers. In November, Lynnfield Interact sponsored a donation drive for Veterans in collaboration with Operation Troop Support!  Boxes of warm socks and writing supplies were collected and donated to troops overseas.  Also in November, Interact Members organized a group of their peers to help stuff SWAG bags for the annual Lynnfield Rotary 5K Turkey Trot road race. Also for the race, Interact members were stationed along key points across the course to keep runners on track!  Finally, and most impressive, they came up with their own club fundraiser.  They sold raffle tickets for Holiday Gift Baskets at the annual Thanksgiving Day football game, at the Turkey Trot, and at the Annual Tree Lighting on the Common netting $290 for their club!  They have been seen out and about serving Lynnfield this fall.

We can't wait to see what their next service project is!
District Managed Grant Supporting Campers
Belle Isle Rotary Club has submitted a District Managed Grant to support campers from East Boston to Camp Rotary.

For those Clubs without Interact Clubs (or even for Clubs with Interacts), please consider supporting the District Managed Grant from Belle Isle Rotary Club.  It will support 10 students from the Salesian Boys & Girls Club in East Boston to go to Camp Rotary for a week this summer. This experience will make a lasting impact on these children, who otherwise will never experience summer camp.  It will also support Camp Rotary as it enters its 100th year.

Donations to support this can be sent to Belle Isle Rotary c/o Tom Hankard, 14 Edgehill Road, Winthrop, MA 02152. Please add Camp Rotary to the memo line.
Mini-Grants for Interact:  Deadline Extended to Jan. 30
The District Governor would like to support the revitalization of our Interact Clubs this fall. To that end we have put together a $100 mini grant for clubs to use to assist their Interact Club in doing a service project.  Applications are now available online and close on January 30th.  Start talking to your Interact club now and plan a service project with them.  This can also include a service project to celebrate World Polio Day on October 24.  We are asking all Interact Clubs to plan a project to celebrate our progress towards Polio Eradication.
Share Your Club's Stories
Has your club recently hosted an event or project or are you planning something in the near future that you would like to share with your fellow District 7930 Rotarians?

The weekly eBulletin depends on the content provided by clubs, so please submit your stories and we will publish them on the district website and in the next eBulletin. Stories that showcase your club or event should be submitted via the website portal at this link.

The deadline for submitting items for the weekly District 7930 eBulletin is Friday morning in order to be included in the following Monday's edition.  If the eBulletin being prepared is getting to be too long and the story submitted is not time-sensitive, we may choose to delay including it until the following week.
