A Celebration of Women in Rotary
Sunday June 30, 2020

On 4 May 1987, the US Supreme Count changed the face of Rotary International forever.  On that date the Court unanimously ruled that Rotary couldn't discriminate based on sex and they had to admit women into local Rotary Clubs.  The Council on Legislation followed up soon after changing the by-laws and constitution of our organization.

District 7930 Memorial Service

At the June 10th business meeting and memorial service, Rotary District 7930 remembered all the Rotarians who have passed in the last twelve months. Even though it was an online event, it was a very moving ceremony and many members spoke out after the memorial to share their thoughts about those that have left us.

The Memorial Service has been recorded and is now available here on YouTube.
D7930 Exceeds Expectations!

In February, D7930 Rotarians were given the challenge to perform 10,000 Acts of Peace before the end of the fiscal year-- June 30, 2020.  The amazing Rotarians in our district blew that goal out of the water so quickly that the goal was reset to 20,000 Acts of Peace.  As of June 15, we are at 20,028 and still counting!

Thank you to every Rotarian in this District!!
PDG Stephen May
It is with great sadness that I inform you that Past District Governor Steve May, from District 7930, has passed away. He was formerly a member of the Rotary Club of Reading.  Steve was District Governor from 2010 to 2011, and also served as a Club president, District Foundation Chair, and Assistant Governor. He was a Paul Harris Major Donor.  Steve relocated to Florida, and is being laid to rest there.
Membership Reminder
Our district is down 77 members as of June 10.  Please remember to add members on or before 30 June to count for the current Rotary year, 2019-20. Clubs are still inducting members, so do your best to continue to attract members during this time!!  If you’re planning a virtual induction ceremony, consider having the new member induction video from RI President Mark Daniel Maloney ready to show.
Greater Salem Distributes Masks
Greater Salem Rotary Club, in connection with the owner of the Common Man Restaurant (whose owner is a Rotarian), organized MaskUpNH.com-- delivering masks over the weekend at the Salem NH High School.

Downtown Boston Welcomes Ontario Visitor
The Rotary Club of Downtown Boston would like to thank the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie Ontario for sharing the International Rotary Fellowship with us during our club's first online meeting. We had over 50 attendees and our guest speaker of the month was Jeff Werner- former Executive Director of the New England Carpenter benefits Fund. The topics covered ranged from business planning to a nationally recognized extended care program. Despite being compelled by the current circumstances to hold our meeting virtually, we were pleased that this online medium allowed us to connect briefly with our fellow Canadian Rotarians.
Burlington Breakfast Assists Fire Victims
In a deadly fire at a house in Burlington, the owner of the house and his mother lost their lives. BBRC Rotarians Ray Graber, Kevin McKelvey, Pooja Singla and Taufiq Sheikh of Brookline's Bank set up an account to help with the funeral services. Contribution from BBRC Rotarians, Brookline Bank and some community help, the family was presented with $750 to help with funeral arrangements. The club's efforts were truly appreciated!

What a Rotary moment!
