Celebrate Our Heroes

Thursday, November 14th will be our upcoming ROBERT C. WOOD MEMORIAL HEROES foundation dinner event, named in honor and memory of our friend, the late Past District Governor Bob Wood (2018-19). This event will be starting at 5:30 PM at the Danversport and we hope that many of you will be attending. The evening will include a social hour, silent auction, dinner, and Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) presentations.

Clubs are invited to participate in the Robert C. Wood Memorial Heroes event by contributing an item to the silent auction, and - most importantly - your club can select a hero from your community to be recognized with a Paul Harris Fellow recognition at the event!

2 Ways to Support Rotaplast Mission to Cebu

There are two ways you can support our upcoming Rotaplast Mission to Cebu in March.

ONE: You can make a personal donation or encourage your club’s Board of Directors financially to support our Mission. Checks can be sent to our Rotaplast Treasurer payable for Rotaplast: Eagle Bank, Attn: Stephen Miliotis, 350 Broadway, Everett, MA 02151.

TWO: You can sign up to volunteer on this mission as we still have a few open positions available. The mission departs from Boston to San Francisco on March 8 and returns to San Francisco on March 23. You must travel with the group on this portion of the trip so that the equipment boxes can be counted as your second piece of luggage. This is done as a group booking through Rotaplast and will cost approximately $1,200.

New RI Membership Leads Procedure

Rotary International will soon change the member lead procedure that when someone indicates their interest at rotary.org/join, their information becomes a membership lead. The current system assigns leads to the District where the person submitted their interest. The District Governor and District Membership Chair are asked via email to assign the lead to a Club that fits the membership leads needs and interests, and it’s then the Club’s role to contact the lead.

A new lead process will soon be implemented whereby all prospective members will be able to select the Club they find most interesting and suitable based on the information presented about it, such as location and meeting time. Rotary International will notify a Club’s President, Membership Chair, Secretary, and Executive Secretary will then be asked to connect with the prospective member and report on their progress.

Andover FUNraiser at the Chateau

Lexington Rotary Annual Cash Raffle

Lexington Rotary announces its Annual Cash Raffle 2024. Drawing will take place on November 15, 2024, 6:30 PM. To benefit Rotary scholarships and community projects fund. Help Lexington Rotary fulfill its ongoing commitment to our community and buy a raffle ticket!

Marblehead High Interact -- 100 Strong!

The Marblehead High School Interact Club started the year strong with 100 members and counting. The dynamic leadership is planning a full year of service and fundraising projects both locally and internationally.

Advisors Jim Nye and Jack Attridge are excited to work with the very motivated class of 2025 during this school year.

Lynn Rotary Supports Abuse Survivors

Recently at a Lynn Rotary dinner meeting Julie Gerraughty the Director of Development for the North Shore chapter of HAWC (Healing Abuse Working for Change) spoke about its mission. For almost 40 years HAWC has been helping the abused in the North Shore area of Massachusetts. Whether we know it or not, we all know someone who is or has been abused. Prior to the meeting she asked members if we could donate items frequently needed by abused who make use of a safe house. Items such as: sheets, pillowcases; towels; and fleece throws. All items their clients can use when they no longer need the services of HAWC. Rotary members were quite generous.

She shared the following with the members:

Their Mission is to create social change by taking action against personal and societal patterns of violence and oppression.

HAWC provides services to survivors of domestic abuse residing in 23 cities and towns on Massachusetts’ North Shore in order that they may make informed, independent decisions about their futures.
