District Governor Peter Simonsen, along with the entire District 7930 Leadership Team wishes all Rotarians, their families and friends a Happy and Healthy New Year!
We accomplished a lot in 2014, yet we continually strive to continue to serve others in the spirit of Rotary. How will you and your club move Rotary forward in 2015? A great New Year's resolution for all of us might be to spread the word of Rotary on a daily basis. Consider wearing your Rotary pin as frequently as possible, tell you neighbors, friends and co-workers about Rotary and our mission, participate in the Polar Plunge by either plunging or by making a pledge to a plunger in your club. Look through your address book, paper or digital, and think about who you think would be a great Rotarian. Invite them to a meeting, fellowship event or a service project. Maybe they join Rotary, maybe not, but they would begin to understand how incredible Rotary is in our world. If we all were able to introduce two more people to the wonderful world of Rotary, we might engage more than 4,000 new friends of Rotary. If we invited 10 people, the buzz about Rotary would be amazing.
Enjoy your New Year with friends and family and know that the district appreciates everything you do in the name of Rotary, in your community and around the world!
SOCIAL MEDIA AND FUNDRAISING STRATEGIES
Utilizing social media is a proven strategy to increase awareness of polio and your fundraising efforts. Did you know it's easy to share your personal plunge page on your Facebook or Twitter? Simply open up your personal page, copy the web address below and substitute your name.
Then post it as a STATUS or TWEET! If you're not plunging but would like to support your club's representative, simply follow the same instructions but for your favorite plunger! Either way, it's always a good idea to share or post WITH COMMENTS and a call to action like, "Please consider our Polar Plunge for Polio when making your year-end contributions."
Another fun way to promote your page is with pictures. Use pictures from past plunges, polar bear photos, or pose some new ones and keep it interesting. Included in the photo should be a link to your personal page. Photos drive comments and sharability! Click here to see all the graphics available.
The best thing you can do, however, is post it to Facebook, then SHARE to an individual with a comment asking for a donation. This method of sharing WITH COMMENT is what drives a post to go viral and show up closer to the top of a page. Check out the LINK for more suggestions on how to maximize Facebook to increase awareness and donations. Want more ideas, click on 10 Tips for Facebook and start your campaign now!
If you have more questions on how to use Facebook for promoting your page, email the team at polarplunge7930@gmail.com!

BURLINGTON INTERACT DONATES SOCKS TO VETS
At what has become an annual event the Burlington High School Rotary Interact Club presented veterans from the Bedford Veterans Administration Hospital with over 450 pairs of white athletic socks and also gave them a financial donation along with hand made holiday cards. Three veterans attended who spoke about their experiences at war. One of them was 20 years old during the Vietnam war and had lost 3 limbs. The socks were all contributed by Rotarians and local residents and businesses.

LOOKING FOR SPEAKERS?
Having a dynamic and inspiring speaker at your club's meeting can be a powerful way to retain and attract members.
The task of finding quality speakers can be daunting! District 7930 has created a speaker bureau database to help clubs share and find speakers who have presented for clubs and been well received. Please check it out by going to the District website and clicking on "Speaker Database" on the left side of the home page. We have a list of specific names as well as a list of Rotary programs available to your club. This list is growing so be sure to check back in often! Right now there are enough suggested programs to fill in most of the Rotary year! Click here to view the Speaker Database.
If your club has had a great speaker please send in their name and contact information to PDG Terri Kidder at terrikidder@yahoo.com.
