Karaoke 4 Charity
The Greater Salem NH Club wrapped up the 2018-2019 year, proudly with having made a difference for a number of organizations in the 5 towns we served! Food pantries were a big focus, with sizeable donations or services delivered to St. Anne's, Pleasant St., St Patrick's, & Shepherd's Pantries with cash donations or preparation of meals on an ongoing basis . The pasta lunches have been a great hit! We also gave considerable donations to Hampstead and Atkinson Libraries for furniture, childrens chromebooks, etc, Salem Children's Dental Network, Field of Dreams, 5 High School Academic Scholarships (increased from 3) and a Robotics Club sponsorship too!. Honoring the memory of those lost in battle or other events also was very special with support for the Vietnam Moving Wall, 911 Monument Project, Homeland Heroes Foundation. And so much more! We hope to make it even bigger in 2020!
Congratulations to Christine Sloss recipient of a Paul Harris Fellow recognition. Christine was recognized during the Rotary Installation luncheon held on July 25th at the Eastern Yacht Club
In the past two weeks, the Rotary Club of Lynn recognized the outstanding contributions of three longtime and faithful Rotarians with the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow pin. District Governor Joan Arsenault was on hand Thursday to present pins to past President Stephen Upton and Club Treasurer Arthur Horgan while President William Reilly presented Dave Richardson with his pin at the August 29th meeting.
The Rotary Club of North Reading is pleased to announce that it will now serve as District 7930's first cause-specific Rotary Club. Rotary world-wide is known for tackling humanitarian issues including the global eradication of polio, water and sanitation issues, woman’s health, literacy and more. These issues are addressed locally and globally at the discretion of the independent clubs. Recently, Rotary International voted to allow local clubs to focus on individual causes as they deem appropriate. Current North Reading Rotary President Dave O’Neill explained, “Every year our club takes a hard look at how we can help North Reading residents. It led to a lengthy discussion, bringing in experts in different fields, and completing an assessment over the summer. It was unanimous. Our members want to tackle addiction prevention.” He continued, “When you think about how many families, generations even, are affected by addiction, it’s heart breaking. We want to help.”
The Gloucester Rotary Club will publish a 12-month Cape Ann photo calendar for 2020 as a fundraiser. All profits will go to the Gloucester Rotary Club’s many community and international activities.
