DISTRICT 7930 FOUNDATION & MEMBERSHIP FORUM On Tuesday, October 21, Rotarians will gather at the Sheraton Colonial Boston North Hotel and Conference Center at 1 Audubon Road in Wakefield, MA for exciting programs and new information about the Rotary Foundation and Membership.
Registration begins at 3:15 pm in the Conference Center lobby on the lower level. There will be a plenary in the main Ballroom at 4:00 pm followed by breakout sessions from 4:35 to 6:15 pm.

The Sheraton Colonial is right off Rte. 95/128 in Wakefield, approximately 2 miles from the Route 93-Route 95/128 intersection.
Deadline Extended for District Grant Submission
Will your club implement a new humanitarian project either locally or internationally this Rotary year? If so, please take note that the deadline for submitting a District 7930 Grant application has been extended from August 31, to September 26, 2014. As always first come/first served for qualified applicants who submit applications for projects that meet all guidelines. Please review guidelines below to determine whether your club has a project that is eligible for District funding support.
Is my club eligible?
Rotary clubs from District 7930 who have successfully filed their signed Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) with the District Foundation Chairman may apply. The clubs must be in
good standing with Rotary International.
How do I link to the DMG application?
Please click on 2014 DMG Application and all applications must be submitted electronically, preferably via the Fillable PDF form.
What is the deadline for applying?
Applications will be accepted from July 1 through September 26th.
What is the grant implementation period?
Projects must be complete by May 2015, and Final Report must be submitted by June 1, 2015.
What are the funding limits?
Clubs may request up to $3,000 for local projects (minimum request is $1,000), and up to $5,000 for international projects (minimum request is $2,500). The District Foundation Grants Committee matches $1 for every $1 of cash contributions from clubs.
When will my club receive funds?
The project must be completed and invoices paid by May 15, 2015 . Upon District approval of the Final Report (due by June 1, 2015), that requires copies of paid receipts and check copies, your club will be reimbursed per the terms of your approved grant application.
What are the components of a strong project?
Projects must address at least one of the 6 Areas of Focus. They should be humanitarian-focused. Projects must be supported by the entire membership of the Club, and involve broad participation of members. The projects must be new, or must add a unique component or enhancement to an existing program. District 7930 Youth Exchange Committee hosted Districts 7910, 7950, 7850 and 7870 for a multi-district Inbound Student Orientation at Camp Rotary. The 26 Inbound Students represent 17 different countries. Although it was extremely hot and we had a rockin’ storm Saturday evening, all of the students enjoyed each other and were able to share their concerns, worries and accomplishments since arriving to the US a few short weeks ago. We look forward to seeing other again during the course of the year.

2 PRESIDENTS SHARE ROTARY MOMENTS IN BURLINGTON
An amazing meeting occurred Friday the 12thas Amy Palmerino and Paul Gleason visited the Burlington Club as guest speakers. Amy (left in picture) and Paul are respectively Presidents of the Stoneham and Winchester Clubs and were greeted by the Burlington Club President Sarah Boulos (center in picture).
Amy and Paul spoke of exciting developments and events in Stoneham and Winchester and Rotary moments and that they enjoyed their visit to Burlington.
Sarah presented books to Amy and Paul who signed book plates. The Burlington Club donates books to the Burlington Public Schools.
BOSTON'S BEST COMICS AT ANDOVER ROTARY
Comedy returns in grand style to the Wyndham Hotel Andover for the Rotary Club of Andover's Annual Comedy Night on October 17, 2014. Once again comic/MC Dave Rattigan brings a cavalcade of comedians with TV, radio, comedy club and casino credentials. The evening is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Andover.
“We love bringing this event to the community,” said Rotary Club president Megan Donovan. “We have worked with Dave Rattigan for several years now and each show gets better and better.
Money raised from the event are used in the good works Rotary does locally, nationally and internationally.
“Rotary is helps support local charities like Lazarus House and the needs of our schools. But we also are helping to eradicate Polio and provide clean drinking water at an international level,” said Donovan.
The annual October event brings seasoned Boston area comics to the Wyndham Hotel. In addition to Rattigan, the evening features three comedians.
THE COMEDIANS
Dave Rattigan returns as host. One of Boston’s busiest comedians, this year Rattigan has had clips run on Nickmom.com and SlackerRadio.com. He was one of just a handful of men to perform in the 2014 Women in Comedy Festival in Boston, and early in the year performed at Mike McDonald’s annual Valentine’s Day show at the PortsmouthMusic Hall.
He headlines clubs, fundraisers and corporate shows, writes humorous columns and essays for publications and web sites, co-created and hosts the themed standup show How Men Think (Or Do They?) and is the creator/writer/producer of the Post Office Golf League web series. Standup fans have heard the Dave Rattigan: Thinks He's Funny CD on XM-Sirius Satellite Radio and on Matty’s Comedy 1200 in Boston. He’s appeared in TV commercials, the 2011 film Heavy Times, and has written humorous pieces for the Boston Globe, Christian Science Monitor, Northshore Magazine, and others. His company, Scamps Comedy Productions, produces shows for charity, for companies, in theaters and restaurants, etc., including the Andover Rotary Show each year. Based on net estimates, Scamps has raised thousands of dollars for various good causes in the past eight years.
Bob Seibel's press kit reads "Buffoon," and that's an accurate description of the lifetime class clown from the working class city of Lynn. The son of German immigrants, Seibel tried factory work and school teaching before he discovered he could get paid for making people laugh. A quarter-century later, he's still one of the most requested acts in New England, headlining top clubs and events, as well as working in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Although he's a world traveler and licensed pilot, his checkered past remains. When one old friend was asked if he'd like to fly with Seibel, the friend replied, "Fly with you? I wouldn’t get in a simulator with you!"
A life-long full-time bachelor and full-time single dad, Chris Pennie pulls humor from his dysfunctional family and offbeat view of the world to entertain audiences around New England. He was a finalist in CMTs Next Big Comic contest, the Plymouth Rock Comedy Festival, Dick Doherty's Beantown Comedy Riots, and the Funniest Comic in New England contest at Mohegan Sun Casino. He has also performed at the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival in Atlanta and the Boston Comedy Festival.
With a host of national TV credits, Boston-born comedian/actor Jim Lauletta is one of the most popular headlining college and club in acts in New England, Las Vegas and Atlantic City. He's also quickly becoming one of the busiest commercial actors in the area. His twisted, random and cynical delivery leaves crowds wondering, "What will he say next?!" and the entertainment industry people saying, "We just don't know what to do with you." Jim’s national television credits include: HBO’s U.S. Comedy Arts Festival’s "Best of the Fest," NBC, Comedy Central and Comcast’s Comedy Spotlight. Among a host of career highlights, he performed on Denis Leary's "Comics Come Home" in 2005.
The Andover Rotary Club meets each Friday at 7:30 AM at the Lanam Club in Andover. Guests are always welcome to attend the meetings that feature a full breakfast and a featured speaker in addition to fellowship and fun.
