Gr. Salem Rotary Club Distribute Scholastic Dictionaries

The Gr. Salem Rotary Club has been committed in distributing scholastic dictionaries to 3rd graders for the past 20+ years. This week the club distributed 250 dictionaries to the Golden Brook School in Windham NH one of the communities we support.

This is an ongoing service to promote literacy and empower students with the tools they need to succeed. Gr. Salem services 5 communities, Salem, Windham, Atkinson, Hampstead and Pelham NH.

Polio Plus Speakers

Marblehead Club recently had Philip Wilson speak at their club, and his message was truly powerful. As a polio survivor, Philip reminds us why our efforts to raise funds for PolioPlus are still so important. His story brings home the reality that polio is not just a chapter in history—it continues to affect lives today.

I believe it would be incredibly valuable for all of the district clubs to hear from him. His presentation offers both inspiration and a renewed sense of urgency for the work Rotary continues to do.

Philip is also collaborating with Carlos Robledo, another Rotarian/polio survivor, to raise awareness throughout the district. Together, they bring a compelling and personal perspective to Rotary’s commitment to ending polio once and for all.

A recent story from the Gates Foundation. The story of polio—and for us, the story of this past year—is a story of people working together to eradicate a preventable disease, sharing what they learn, and staying committed long after the headlines move on. That’s how eradication happens.

Last week, chair Bill Gates met with leaders from the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI)—a decades-long partnership led by WHO, Rotary International, the U.S. CDC, UNICEF, Gavi, Gates Foundation, and countries around the world. Together, the GPEI is working to deliver a world where no child anywhere is ever paralyzed by any form of poliovirus again. It’s one of the largest public health collaborations in history, and one we are proud to continue supporting with a pledge of $1.9 billion in support of critical efforts to end all forms of polio globally.

Lawrence Rotary Delivers Holiday Joy

The Lawrence Rotary Club celebrated this holiday season with the Leahy School administrators and its grade1 to 5 students.

Lawrence Rotary arranged for 6 musicians to provide musical entertainment and elves to hand out gifts. This made for both a most fun and happy celebration! Among the club members who participated were Sean Murphy, our lead elf who coordinated the distribution of gifts to the assembled kids, and Shirley Fitzpatrick and Cecilia Cuesta who dressed in their elf costumes. They also brought sugar and caffeine laden snacks to sustain the adults. Richard Rodriguez was an elf, Ron Hill was Santa, and Ron's wife Janis was the lovely Mrs. Claus.

The children's shining eyes and happy, smiling faces told the true story of this holiday season!

The Lawrence Rotary Club sends its best wishes for a wonderful Christmas and holiday season, and a happy, healthy and prosperous year ahead!

Has your club recently hosted an event or project or are you planning something in the near future that you would like to share with your fellow District 7930 Rotarians?

The weekly eBulletin depends on the content provided by clubs, so please submit your stories and we will publish them on the district website and in the next eBulletin. Stories that showcase your club or event should be submitted via the website portal at this link. Your club's successes and events can give inspiration to other Rotarians.

The deadline for submitting items for the weekly District 7930 eBulletin is Friday morning in order to be included in the following Monday's edition. If the eBulletin being prepared is getting to be too long and the story submitted is not time-sensitive, we may choose to delay including it until the following week.
