We are looking to get retired softball players from as long as 40 years ago to come! We will supply food and soft drinks. The picnic starts at 5.30 and goes to dusk.

 

Over the years Medford, Saugus, Lynn, Burlington, Peabody, Hamilton, Ipswich, Melrose/Wakefield, Lawrence, along with the current teams from Danvers, Marblehead/Salem, Beverly, Woburn, and Chelsea have many people who have played in the league!

The recent Installation Dinner held by the Reading Rotary Club was more than a celebration of the past year and look towards the future. President Elect Brian Snell wanted the evening to send an important message.

 

As guests arrived at the hall, they were welcomed by a service project that created Summer Care Packages for 50 children in the Foster Care system. The care package consisted on items purchased by the club as well as donations from Rite Aid, Salem Five, Reading Cooperative Bank, Coventa, Dr. Leo Spyrou, and Samantha's Harvest/the Gibbs Family.

 

But more impactful than the service project were the presentations by Laurie Roscoe of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Children and Families and Nicole McLaughlin of the Plummer Youth Promise. Roscoe began with an overview of the situation in the state, reporting that there are more than 6,000 children in the foster care system and more entering every day. She emphasized that no community is untouched by the need to help these children. Foster care parents are needed everywhere so that an affected child's life is disrupted as little as possible.

Hannah Trimarchi is the recipient of the Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor "Harbor Heroes Program". The program is designed to recognize a local student's involvement in a project or projects that improve the lives of others.

Hannah is involved with the Jefferson Forum Community Service Club. In this capacity Hannah is working to make public education the best that it can be to the largest amount of students. She has helped design surveys to assess school climate and she is a delegate to the New England Student Advisory Council. Hannah is also the first female in 15 years to be elected Chairwoman of the MA State Student Advisory Council. The Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor gave a donation to My Brothers Table in Lynn, MA on behalf of Hannah. Hannah plans to study politics in college.
