Studying Sociocultural Refugee Integration at Tufts
Host club: Somerville
Yumeka Kawahara is a first-year Master's student studying migration at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Her main academic focus is refugee integration processes in Europe. She is from Japan and earned LLB at Kyoto University with 1-year study abroad experience at Sciences Po Paris, France. Prior to Fletcher, she worked with several non-profit organizations in Japan, France, Singapore and Cameroon and think tanks in Japan. She applied for the Global Grant because she strongly resonates with one of the purposes and focuses of this grant: promoting peace. While she does not have any friends/family in Rotary, she would love to get to know many people in the community. One of her goals this year is to visit Cape Cod.
Yumeka is hosted by the Somerville, MA club. She is from Japan and is a Master’s Student at the Fletcher School studying refugee integration and global governance. Graduation date: May 2023.
