At last week's meeting, President Tom Murphy presented Executive Director (Gloucester Rotarian) Julie LaFontaine, center in photo, and Director of Operations (Ipswich-Rowley Rotarian) Jen Perry with a $2000 donation. Julie commented, "The Open Door is powered by the community to meet the needs we have." This year alone, she has seen a 30% increase in the number of people seeking assistance. Jen added that "The Open Door has been collecting food items at area markets including Shaw's in Ipswich and Market Basket in Rowley. Holiday baskets will be assembled and distributed next week."
Last Thursday morning, dozens of Rotarians - past and present, friends, and neighbors packed our meeting room at the Village Pancake House and donned 'bowties' to celebrate Nat and his devoted wife Holly. Many of those present participated in a fun but respectful roast of our departing hero, as can be seen in the collage.
Nat and Holly, best wishes for your new life in Maine.
With the holiday season upon us, it was heartwarming to see the dedication and teamwork of our members as we assembled baskets filled with essential holiday items. These baskets will be distributed to local families in need, ensuring they can enjoy a festive and comforting Thanksgiving meal.
We are wishing everyone a joyful and generous holiday season!

Reading High's Shack Shack had been operated by the Reading Boosters Club but as their numbers dwindled, the Town of Reading asked Rotary to take on its operation. The Shack provides opportunities as both a public service and a fundraiser.
This season has included six home games under the lights so far. On this night, our Global Scholar Annalena came out to join the fun and lend a hand.

Believing in the fundamental worth and dignity of every person, LifeBridge aims to offer shelter, housing, meals, and drop-in services to those in need. Through these services, they strive to provide their clients with acceptance, structure, opportunity, and the tools to make healthy decisions tailored to their individual circumstances and requirements.
The Rotary Club volunteers cooked and served a hearty meal of chili and corn pudding for the LifeBridge clients. This was part of the club's ongoing partnership and commitment to support the important work of LifeBridge. The Rotarians plan to return to LifeBridge in January to prepare another delicious community meal for those accessing the organization's vital resources and programming.
During their time at the Salem Pantry, the Rotarians participated in several key activities. They helped prepare bags for home delivery, ensuring those in need would receive the necessary food items. The volunteers also worked on putting together pallets of food for The Market, the Pantry's on-site shopping experience for clients.
In addition to the hands-on work, the Rotarians were able to take a tour of the Pantry's facilities and get their questions answered about the organization's operations and community partnerships. This provided valuable insight into how the Salem Pantry is fighting food insecurity in the local area.
$100 raffle tickets for the $10,000 Raffle (plus other cash prizes) are still available - to purchase, contact Hannah Roberts via email at HannahPsychNP@gmail.com.
