D7930 committed to performing 10,000 Acts of Peace  between February 12 (the date of the World Peace & Understanding Dinner) and June 1, 2020.  What are you and your club doing right now to battle the COVID pandemic?  Log your acts under Disease Prevention and help us get to our goal of 10,000 Acts of Peace by June 1.

Have you donated food/funds to a food pantry?
Have you donated PPE to a human services agency?
Have your members volunteered their time?

Please log your Club's Acts of Peace here

Together, we can easily hit the 10,000 goal!
Trustee Julia's Call to Action
Like all of you, I've been home for over a month watching the COVID-19 pandemic unfold and feeling like I should be doing more! I'm healthy, I have food on the table, and I'm able to stay home. Not everyone can say that! And then our district had this awful virus hit us personally with the death of Beverly Rotarian, Don Kelly.  Don was club president when I served as governor (2007-08).  He was a great club president, and even better Rotarian, a better yet community supporter. What a loss …. Just like all the others who’ve died because of this virus.

So, here's what I've come up with .... JULIA'S COVID-19 CHALLENGE.  Many of you have already given, thank you!  For those of you who haven’t … here’s your chance.

I'm challenging a 200 of my friends and friends of Rotary in District 7930 to donate $25 to Rotary's Disaster Response Fund. One-thousand donations (Rotarians and non-Rotarians) will result in one COVID-19 Disaster Response grant ($25,000) being funded for a Rotary district somewhere in the Rotary world. I have almost 4,000 followers on Facebook and 150 of them have already given.  We have almost 2,000 members in District 7930 and I hope that I can count on at least 10% (200) of you  to rise to the challenge.  If you’ve already given, thank you again!

I hope I can count on 200 of my friends in District 7930 to step up and donate. Let me know when you donate (email, PM, or on my FB timeline) so I can keep track of how we're doing.

Thank you and let's make a difference!

Boston Rotaract Goes Virtual!
Zoom, Zoom, Zoom - it was great seeing our friends from their living rooms! Boston Rotaract kicked off the its virtual April with a member meeting on Monday, sharing progress from the last quarter and hearing what members have been doing to take care of themselves during this time. A few special Rotarians joined the call and the club welcomes other district Rotarians to join their meetings and events. The group welcomed a Rotary superhero, Evan Burrell from Sydney, to speak about his Rotaract and Rotary journeys, as well as about the importance of personal branding and telling your digital story.
Trustees of the Foundation Increase Flexibility of Grants for COVID-19

Update 4/13/2020: District Clubs have jumped onto this opportunity to help their communities!  At this time, all funds have been committed.  Thank you D7930 for your commitment to serving!

I would like to share with you some great news from District 7930 and the Rotary Foundation!

The Rotary Foundation recently gave districts more flexibility in using DDF money. Clubs who are grant qualified have access to apply for a District grant up to $6,000 per grant (50% Club/50% District) to be used for COVID 19 FOOD RELIEF. There are ONLY 25 clubs who qualified this year and each of those clubs/members received a separate email from me. Qualified clubs need to submit grants by May 1 and complete the project by June 1. Grants will be approved on a first come, first serve basis until the $19,000 is depleted.

You can find the Grant application here: https://grant.clubrunner.ca/50227/Grant/NewRequest.

In addition, any monies that you haven't spent in your current district grant can be repurposed for a Covid-19 response.
